Fastpat grills a turkey

I've been wanting to try cooking a turkey on the gas grill, so yesterday, since it was 72F outside, I decided to give it a go.

Lube the bird. A little olive oil, keeps the skin soft and supple. Before I did this, I stuffed dry rub spices under the skin. For those medical professionals, I did a blunt dissection of the subcutaneous tissue to enable this.

Place the turkey on the grill, remembering to place it over the unlit burner, we're cooking by indirect heat.

Relax, you've got to turn it three times, 43 minutes of cooking time between turns, for an 11 pound bird. An adult beverage is a must, in this case it's a very good Chateau-Neuf-du-Pape 2003.

If you're wireless'd up, you can sneek in some internet time, maybe even where people discuss cars.

It always helps to have a talented assistant, just incase you fall down or something.

And a talented guard dog, ever on alert.

Both you and Rick, and SO's of course, are welcome anytime. We'll kill something when you come down and grill it.

We (Beth and I) might just take you up on that! I might even bring you a grape vine. We will find out what it is in the spring when the leaves come back.

No need, the land mines got most of them, the Claymore's finished the rest. Sometimes, there's just no substitute for high explosives.

We cooked up a 17 lb. bird on 65 minutes.

Wife helping with the fixins.

The bird never had a chance.

A great sunset to end a great day.

My brother deep-fried two turkeys on Thanksgiving. I don't like turkey (my sister-in-law made lasagna for me!) but everyone raved about it. The King Cooker comes in very handy!

If you bring that, I'll supply everything else. I've never turned down oysters, clams, or shrimp.

Pat. You'll be hearing from my lawyer. Your by-the-barbeque, wine-glass-in-hand, meat-on-the-grill pose is my personal registered trademark.

I did marinated beer can chicken tonight with my left hand while balancing a glass of Grgich Hills cabernet in my right.

That's a French wine. Isn't that getting a little pink?

I hope you put the chicken on the grill, eventually.

I have been cooking my TDay turkey on the Weber for the last 20 years straight. It comes out so flavourful. I dont think I will ever make another in a kitchen stove again.

What ever is necessary, but when I say I'd serve him, it's not meant to be serving him to others.

Hey! Who is this? Any more pics? And does he/she get any scraps as compensation for guarding the realm?
