Hillary scares Democrats. Hillary scares women. She may go over well with the holier-than-thou crowd, but she does not go over well with the average American.

fintstone 12-03-2006 02:13 PM

Yes, Hillary is the man Republicans fear most...not because he is the best candidate....or the most likely to be elected. It is because he is further left than Castro or Putin....but has managed to hide it recently to become more electable. Some called Kerry the "Manchurian candidiate"...they were wrong; Hillary is the true "Manchurian candidate".

You'd better hope those candidates aren't nominated. I've worked in campaigns before, several times, and you aren't dealing with the real issues. Kerry was a wooden indian, and didn't really have the brains to react in real time. H. Clinton isn't like that, and has been assembling her organization for several years already.

Is she beatable, certainly, but not with the likes of the Bushes, Bob Dole, McCain, or any other well known Republican. If the Reps want the White House in 2008, they'd better find a dynamic candidate, untainted by the stench of the Bush family.

Or the baggage of a Guilani and the vaccilations of a McCain. Not to mention Newt.....

Egad...Who else is there?

Someone most likely not even mentioned yet.....

Look back to 1998 and 1990.....

One of the governors perhaps? Who's not beholden to the Bush family and in a state mansion?

Moneyguy1 12-03-2006 02:38 PM

You are probably correct that it will have to be someone who is not too well known. Yet.

CC, Clinton's getting 70% of the vote in an election where she ran basically unopposed is not much of an accomplishment. I can't even think of who the Republican candidate was, though I knew who Ed Cox and then Jeanine Pirro were before they both quit. If you run unopposed and get less than 70% of the vote, that's pretty bad.

I think I started a thread here a long time ago asking who here would actually vote for Clinton. I don't think even Rodeo or Techweenie were able to say they would. So, when the most left-wing folks can't even say they'd vote for her, that's pretty bad.

Over Thanksgiving we were with some family friends, one of whom is a real leftie, NEA card-carrying public school teacher. When my mom asked her if she would vote for Clinton, she had to really dance around the question and finally said it depended on who the Republican was. That's pretty bad.

svandamme 12-03-2006 02:48 PM

to bad i can't run for prezzy, beeing non native
i'm sure i would give everybody a run for their money as an independant

i have a likable face.

Moneyguy1 12-03-2006 02:50 PM

Rick:

(Said with tongue firmly in cheek) There have been elections where dead people have won the popular vote, and others where live people couldn't get close to 70% against a recently deceased opponent!!

Rick Lee 12-03-2006 02:53 PM

Moneyguy, that reminds me. Strom Thurmond is the only person to ever win a US Senate seat by write-in vote.

Moneyguy1 12-03-2006 02:54 PM

You are absolutely correct, IIRC.

I don't find Techweenie or Rodeo particularly leftwing. The criteria for "leftwing" around here has been disagree with the liberal Bush. It's faulty criteria.

Honestly, I don't know if she could win or not, and neither do you, Lendaddy, Rodeo, anyone. For one, it's too early to tell...

Why is that bad? That's her opinion. She's not collectively 300 million people....

lendaddy 12-03-2006 03:23 PM

CC, they have done polls and Hillary's negative is off the charts IIRC. There is science behind our statements, they are not guesses.....accept it or not, it is what it is.
