Nextel signal enhancement code?

Someone told me that there is a code you can put in your Nextel phone that gets you better reception (by allowing it to use more towers or something) Anyone know about this?

I'd love to hear about it if it does exist.

So far my research is mixed.

I'll let you know if I find anything but I'm guessing it's BS.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

No there is no "code"

Why dont you just get the new phone that can use both iDEN as well as CDMA networks. That would improve coverage a bunch.

Turns out to be an internet hoax where they claimes it changes the way the phone would "tower jump" or something like that. All it does is give you a readout of what tower your using or some weirdness.

However, it did get me to a screen with some GPS stuff that was neat like giving you GPS direction and speed (though I haven't tested it). Maybe it was in the normal menu too, but i never look at that stuff I just make phone calls:D

Anyway to get there is [#][*] [menu] [right arrow]......do it fairly quick and you're there, then choose GPS then navigation.

Wayne,

Ouch, that hurts!

Len, Legion,

If you guys are having coverage issues I can submit a trouble ticket for you. The local RF Tech will go to the area and check things out. Could be a misaligned antenna form high winds or 1000 other things. If it is a terrain issue, the tech will report the problem to the area engineer. Either way it could help you out. When people do not report problems sometimes it can be hard for the tech to know there is an issue in his area.

I don't have any problems with coverage. Nextel is expensive but the service has been outstanding.

I do know that coverage stops when I get north of Green Bay or south of Rolla, Missouri, but I'm okay with that as I'm on vacation when I hit those areas. (And my wife has a different provider so we do have one working cell phone.)

There are plenty of dead spots by me including my house where I get "sorta coverage", anywhere from no service to three bars depending on lord knows what.

Interestingly my father has a Nextel tower on his property so he's fine:D

Thanks Kyle, I'll let you know. But truth be told I live sorta in the country. I don't think my problem rates very high:D I happen to live on the 1-2 mile stretch of my road that gets bad service.

i tried #, *, menu, right arrow - once in that screen go to the bottom and turn error reporting ON. it helped me for a little while but then sprint won out and i hardly got any signal.
switched to verizon and got a cool razr and haven't had a problem with signal since.
