This really is crap, Florida never would have jumped Michigan for third had USC won. Michigan is really getting the shaft. I can't wait to see the computers, I bet Michigan won that and lost the sportswriters. Had Michigan lost to a lesser team instead of Ohio State they would be going no question......how fukced up is that.

Computers were tied, but both the coaches poll and harris gave Florida the edge. I think its bs too, because Florida having a win last week gave them the edge in the eyes of the voters. Didn't the Florida coach try to convince the voters that they deserved to play in the title game too?

FL had the tougher schedule...I think that was the difference, besides them being the better team as well.

I saw this too. I thought it was an ESPN "what if," not an actual game.
I can't think of any other reason but TV ratings. So which bowl does Michigan and USC go to?

Florida deserved it, no question. They played, and beat, more top ranked teams. LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas. With there only loss to Auburn, at Auburn. Even though I love my LSU, and hate Florida. Florida deserves it, sady.

FL played more games, no BS, they deserve to to be there!! FL played ranked teams and lost the one game with the help of a bad call, see the replay. The Mich coach knew he wasn't going and since his team was beaten, be is just being a whiney ******* even though he knows he didn't play the quality teams that the
G A T O R S beat!! Even Bobby Bowden, the FSU coach said that FL shoul be there, and he has never had a nice thing to say about FL. And since the Coaches voted FL in, that says something too!! Go G A T O R S !!!!!

Michigan sure seemed like the better team.
Their schedule wasn't a cupcake schedule. Only 1 loss, on the road by 3 point to the undisputed No. 1. Home field is worth at least 3 points, so that big game came out to be as close to a draw as possible. Michigan seemed to pretty much have as close to a perfect season as possible. Florida, not so much with the genuine loss, and some other games where they just don't look so strong. I think it's about the $$$. No one wants to see a OSU/Mich. rehash. |

BK Porsche....Michigan handled their schedule much easier than Florida did. Florida struggled all year, Michigan didnt.
Michigan handled Vandy easily, Florida struggled against Vandy. Had USC won yesterday, Michigan would have retained the#3 spot...Funny how Michigan dropped when USC Lost.... Its fixed. Its a joke. The voters wanted Florida in and they got it. Florida will lose by at least 3 scores against OSU. One other thing: this myth that the SEC is the "best conference" has not been proven based on head to head performances. Go Check out the last 10 years of head to head bowls of Big 10 vs. SEC. Its basically pretty even up head to head. Last edited by Sonic dB; 12-03-2006 at 07:03 PM.. |

Also, it just seems so odd that Michigan could be in the #2 spot pretty much all season, do nothing wrong except barely squeak out a loss to the dominant #1, then get leapfrogged by Florida.
People say "Well, Mich should have taken care of biz at OSU." But that doesn't make a lot of sense. OSU is No. 1. No one disputes that. No one is claiming Mich. should get the No. 1 spot. But Mich was No. 2, and they never lost to a lower ranked team. So how could they get knocked from the No. 2 spot by a team like Florida, who really DID fail to take care of biz in their loss? Oh yeah, one other thing, I think Mich would have a very, very good chance of beating OSU in the NC game on neutral turf - they showed they have OSU's number by playing them so close at OSU, and it's hard for one team to beat the other twice in a row when they are evenly matched. sonic, I wasn't just throwing that out there. And I dont fully think Michigan or Florida deserve it, but Michigan deserves it more then Florida does. Also, the only reason why Florida is playing and not Michigan is so the broadcasters can touch a wider fan base, plain and simple. I would love to see an OSU-vs MSU at a nuetral field. To me OSU is the best team in the league, and they have showed this consistently throughout the season.

Thanks for the link.
Here's another showing how much $$$ the schools receive for appearance in the bowl games to which they've been invited. http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/bowl_games.html

But again, I don't think the school playing in the bowl gets all the money that is shown.
It is divided up among all the schools in that school's conference, I believe. |

Unless you're Notre Dame in which case you're your own conference.....which is why they stay independant or atleast a big part of it).
