Flat spotted radials, any hope?
I had a really nice set of Michelins on my Rover when it was "retired" a couple years ago. My Tundra needs new skins, so I figured why not try a swap. A place down the road does a mobile service and for just over $100 they swapped and balanced them.
He said they were flat spotted from sitting but may correct themselves with use. Well they vibrate pretty bad at different speeds.... Any hope or get a new set?

Air them up and drive them for a couple of days. If they are really flat spotted, try to find a older tire shop and the old time guys used to have tire shavers. It would shave the high spots off of a tire that was out of round and you could get some more use out of it.

Thanks Joe. I'll give it another week then go from there. I think a good highway run would help get em hot.
Or would a parking lot figure eight get more heat in 'em?

just drive on them and if you can the parking lot idea sounds good-
If it were not winter they woul'd more than likely shape up in a very short time. I have had this experience a few times, once like you describe but on my 912 when it had sat idle for a year. Pulled it out and after a week of the shakes but being driven every day in hot weather the tires were fine. |

It sounds like you need to do a huge burnout. Its a matter of safety. ;p
