Well, I guess I like Cognac

I've had a bottle of Hennessy in the cupboard for several months and I decided to crack it open tonight.

Wow, this is really good. Smooth.......amazingly so.

I thought Henn was for "soul Brotha's"? Looks like your going to have to get yourself a grill and pull your pants down a little bit.

onlycafe 12-07-2006 03:53 PM

mmmmmmmmm....... now i want some.

I'll drink the bottle of Hennessy ya got on yo shelf,
So just let me introduce myself.

My name is Humpty.
Pronounced with an Umpty.
And oh ladies,
Oh how I love to funk thee.
And all the rappers in the top ten,
Please allow me to bump thee.

You gotta listen to the Humpty Dance when you drink Hennessy. It's a rule.

I've got a little XO right here in front of me.

Here's a toast to everyone in the new year,

may you know truth when you here it
may you have compassion when you feel it
and may you know bulls$*& when you step in it

Good luck Everyone!!

I'm a big fan of Pierre Ferrand. Their Selection des Anges is as good or better than the big brands' XOs for a somewhat more reasonable price. And even their base level--Ambre--is drinkable, unlike the big brands' VS swill.

OK what does the V.S and X.O. mean? Are there others?

dd74 12-07-2006 05:03 PM

Don't know what V.S., X.O, PDQ, or whatever means. I do know malt liquor is awful.

A song I once heard during my subscription to punk music three decades ago, went:

Whskey makes you frisky; gin makes you sin; brandy makes you randy; and rum it makes you...it makes you...rum it makes you COME!

bt1211 12-07-2006 05:04 PM

I have had brandys that I liked better than XO. I used to own a bar and I have a lot of boose left over from those days(the xo included). I wouldn't buy a bottle of hooch that expensive.

Hennesey is very good. Anyone try Armagnac? The diff is Hen Rock is twice distilled, Armagnac is once distilled. Also the regions are different.

I like red wine though.

I'm drinking an 1961 Chateau Montrose right now.

Not too shabby.

...and that's how long it has aged in the CASK, not sat in the bottle on your shelf!

bt1211 12-07-2006 05:34 PM

Randy, your right, just a typo on my part.

I did say that I am "chugging" some right now:p

Finally a line I can use when I fire people where they'll have no comeback!

Awhile back I was able to aqquire 10 bottles of Remy XO for $72 a bottle.

svandamme 12-08-2006 03:31 AM

not Cognac, but well worth a try if you haven't : Calvados

made from apple cider in the Normandie great stuff

i know it because my grandmother was born in Touchet, and our family kept ties with the farm there...
they drink it on the side of a desert coffee, or put it on a sugar, to suck on , and call it "pour le mal au coeur" , translated "for the heart ache" the best stuff came out of the old barrels in a little worn shed...
