If you want to be singled out by your local P.D. for retaliation for the rest of your days, you go right ahead and do that. . .

Oh sure he can slow down and try to get behind you but as he slows so should you until the posted speed limit is reached. he can't touch you. He can't claim a "pace" since you were following him. He can try to write you but the court will throw it out and make the cop look foolish in the eyes of the judge. That isn't good for him, too many of those and the judge will have a tainted opinion of the officer.
I do this all the time, I dare a cop to pull me for doing it.

The cop does not need to justify his speed to you. In fact, if the officer has a particularly bad attitude, he can write you up for speeding as well as "interfering with the lawful duties of a police officer." My father was a cop for 26 years. I have many, many friends on the force today. The California highway patrol love to write tickets for precisely the offense you describe.

Your notion that the officer needs to maintain the speed limit is pretty naive. If questioned, they will claim that they saw something up ahead that required their attention.

Yeah like for 10 miles......................... I think the diff. is the Ca. part. Things are a little diff, between there and here. I live in rural Va, things are not the same.

You're correct, Rick, CA is much different than the east coast. Their laws have a huge influence from Spanish law, and much less from English common law. A good number of things law enforcement does there are verboten here, though many cops would change that if they could, for the worse.

I also use the follow the speeding cop technique and I haven't gotten a ticket yet...

Tyranny in action.

They'd probably charge you with a felony 1 if they caught you.

Can't have people abusing the system and thumbing their noses at the law you see...

It's. All. A. Total. Scam.

1st amendment and all.

It has been done, just not in the Santa suit:D

And all this just reinforces my belief that speed limits are arbitrary and capricious and speed enforcement is nothing but legalized mugging. I will never feel guilty about driving with the flow of traffic AND running a detector, leaving off my front plate, spraying photo blocker on my rear plate, fighting every single ticket in traffic court, etc.
Photo blocker?

What's that?  :D

I agree. I once overheard a cop say something to another cop to the extent of: "Everyone is a perp--most we just haven't caught yet." Kind of reminds me of the old adage: "When your only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail."
Sort of like, "All cops are on the take- most just havn't been caught yet."

I bet cops would very much not like to be viewed in such a light...

It blurs photos of your plate.

Yup, that's Oregon...sadly, the recent election followed the national trend, only increased the power of the tyrants...democrat control in both houses, plus the same Governor that wants to force the installation of GPS monitoring in all registered cars.

Never went to law school, but I have done just fine on my own in traffic court.

That would be a neat trick....................unless the insurance companies get behind it, then it's all over.

I play a little game of "pass the cop on the freeway". It goes like this... There is a cop up ahead going 2-3 miles an hour over the speedlimit in the slowlane and EVERYBODY is scared to pass so they just back traffic up for a good quarter mile. What I try to do is work to the front of the line which is pretty easy because when other people see that you are in a hurry and they know the cop is up ahead they will pull over and let you by just so they can see you get pulled over. So after I get in front of everybody I switch to the fast lane and proceed to do 5-6 mph over the speed limit. Soon I am about to pass the cop. I just keep my cool and proceed right pass him. After I pass i signal to the slow lane and maintain speed at 5-6 mph over the limit. I look back in my rear view mirror at all the suckers still behind the cop and just laugh. I have done this over a dozen times without any tickets what so ever. It feels so good inside. :)

Speedy:)
