What have I become?

My sweetest friend.

Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

Cash or Reznor?

slakjaw 12-09-2006 06:08 PM

great tune

legion 12-09-2006 06:09 PM

Reznor.

I can still remember the morning I was flipping through the channels and caught Johnny Cash singing a Nine Inch Nails song.

The song coming from Trent was a young man facing his regrets for the first time.

The song coming from Cash was an old man facing his regrets for the last time.

too much trippin' and my soul's worn thin

Time to take her home, her dizzy head is conscience laden...

Blue Sky, IMO one of the best songs of all time.

Thinking back now, I remember when Kurt killed himself. I took all my Nirvana CD's and pawned them out of disgust. Wish I hadnt done that..... A lot of the guys / bands I used to idolize turned out to be drug addics or comitted scuicide.

Goes with the territory Slak. Can you think of any other profession (besides stripping/bartending ;) ) where you are required to hang out in bars/clubs/concert halls until 2-3am just so you can get paid? I did that for a while, and don't miss it too much.

I've lost a few musician friends, and will probably lose a couple more in the future. It pains me to say that, but it's true.

On topic: :)

Cash's version of Hurt is amazing, and brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

First time I heard this it threw me so far I didn't even recognize the lyrics. Had to listen and think about it at least 3-4 times it was so far out of context.

Once I put it in its place, it was sweet sweet music.

Once of those "unholy" combinations that you'd never think of, but once someone puts it together it's like magic.

Never thought of it that way. Reading this had just put chills up my spine.....

I knew Trent when he played in a disco band in Cleveland. A dark secret in his past.

I have met Mr. Cash (R.I.P.) He was as big as a vending machine.

Not really. There was a thread titled "What he we become?", and it got me thinking of "Hurt".

What have I done, Sweet Jesus, what have I done?
Become a thief in the night?
Become a dog on the run?
Have I fallen so far, and is the hour so late,
That nothing remains but the cry of my hate,
The cries in the dark that nobody hears,
Here where I stand at the turning of the years?

That was my first thought. Figured it'd be a Les Mis thread. Then I realized I was misquoting the first line. Oops.

Feed my eyes, can you sew them shut?
Jesus Christ, deny your maker
He who tries, will be wasted
Feed my eyes now you've sewn them shut
