Friggin Exterior Christmas Lights

Am I the only one who hates to put up Christmas Lights?
I bought all new lights last year and this year 4 out of 10 strands dont work! Sure I can go to the trouble of repairing them, but screw it I just toss them out and buy more. What a chinese scam. Next year no more. I will hire someone to do it.
($500.00). I forgot to mention some 52 year old guy is dead from falling off the ladder in Aliso Viejo, CA.

Just joking. They go up the day after Thanksgiving, and come down New Years Day, or the day after if the Wife is too hungover to get up on the roof...

I hate them. I had to do the whole house in the rain this year.

Marry a Jewish girl.

Take Menorah out of box, stick in window, plug-in.

Simple.

We still do lights though she likes them, agree they are a pain.

I was putting up the lights and the ladder shifted as it slid down the side of the brick. I reached through the ladder and grabbed onto the gutter to stop the motion. Scraped up my knuckles and was it REALLY SCARY. I'm going to pull them down with a pole.

Only things I hate more than the lights are a sloppy job of putting up lights and ladders.

Ask Britwrench what he thinks of ladders...if he can remember.

Glad you pulled through Mark!

I had a man lift on loan to me once and I got up in the eaves and put in pulleys and continuous plastic -coated wire rope in a flagpole type hoist layout, now I just hoist them up the flagpoles, so to speak with some electrical tape every few feet. Oh, used turnbuckles to keep the sag out of the wire rope.

Thankfully, we have no external sockets on our house.

Minkoff is right, buy them at Wal-Mart just before Thanksgiving to get the assortment you want. Display them from sometime after T-Day to sometime around Jan 1 and then throw the lot out in the trash. Not worth trying to untangle these little b!tches and find the ONE bulb that is cracked or whatever.

I have all kinds of lights to use as I please each year, but the minis give me the biggest headache. They're just not worth the trouble to store for 11 months. I hated them from the start, but they do use less electricity, something I'm in favor of big time.

Several years ago, I put on the tool belt and installed the clever permanent hangers in the stucco with plastic anchors. Now it takes a hour to string the whole house. Mini icicles come in 9 foot lengths. Work around that module and you're golden.

After New Years day, instead of driving my car, I'm going to repackage the 100' LED light string into it's original compact cardboard box.

no.

On December 1st I become a Jehova Witness and on December 31st I renounce the faith. For some reason it just happens every year.

I don't do exterior Christmas decorations, never have and never will. We have a nice tree and interior decorations but I've never felt compelled to decorate the exterior of the house...
