"Who has signed every single bad bill into law?"

"Every Order, Resolution, or Vote to which the Concurrence of the Senate and House of Representatives may be necessary (except on a question of Adjournment) shall be presented to the President of the United States; and before the Same shall take Effect, shall be approved by him, or being disapproved by him, shall be repassed by two thirds of the Senate and House of Representatives, according to the Rules and Limitations prescribed in the Case of a Bill." section 7 Para II, Constitution for the United States 'Bad' bills and all. By this reasoning, you would have to attribute all of the good things to the executive as well. Apparently, the author feels the congress and senate contribute nothing to the process. Or you could change the word "president" to "Congress". Wait a minute, I don't live there and couldn't possible understand the complex reasoning. ![]() At least you folks get to vote for your chief executive. Up here, he/she is the leader of the party with the largest number of seats in the house of commons. Pat: I'll save you a post and respond for you. "#s 2, 5 8 and 13." There! I've been set straight, haven't I? Les

The story is from the Onion. It's funny how even though it's ridiculous satire, not everyone reading Pat's paste could immediately discern that, if you know what I mean.

I find it funny that people like to dump on Pat for no other reason, they don't agree. Isn't that what makes things interesting?

I was surprised by how many fish I managed to land with the first post; yet there they were, flopping around like a dying large mouth bass on a river bank.

Frankly and seriously, I think a figurehead as a leader is a good thing. I don't fault the UK system of hierarchy; they've just let it decline into a joke of sorts. The real work in national and international government is done by the Congress along with the appointed. maybe it's time we had more say in the "appointed."

Like it or not, JFK was a leader of the country, a cheerleader if you will. while his politics may or may not have been mine at the time, I rspected his leadership. Going way back, I believe Geo Washington did pretty much the same thing and we've recognized the icon ever since. It's that which we need, an icon to look toward as a nation and let the dirty work of government proceed as usual. |

Fastpat, I think the irony is lost on you. What is the reason for your landing so many fish? Is it how clever you are, how dull the fish are, or how closely what you consider to be scholarly articles resemble reporting by The Onion?
