'nother CGT dinged

Christian Albers ( dutch F1 racer ) had borrowed one for a little race against a Nissan 350Z , some foto shoot whatever with a car journalist driving the Nissan

*nissan cgt matchup , i fail to see how the Nissan even stands a chance, but hell , not important

as Christian Albers was taking the Journalist out for an instructional warmup lap, after he had explicitely forbidden anybody to drive the CGT due to not insured for anyone else.., but while on the lap in hte Nissan , they suddenly see the CGT

turns out that some race instructor called Michel Schaap (http://www.michelschaap.nl) had taken it out for a JoyRide of some sorts

the Nissan heads for the pits to await the CGT, which ... tada.. never comes back to the pits... CGT had done a ding-dong left and right both sides of the Armco , and then the gravel pit @ Zandvoort...

that's got to be embarrasing, especially if you know that a CGT in Holland costs almost twice as much then in the US due to Dutch car taxes.. 650 000 Euro's they cost here.. that's close to 850 K USD

haven't found pictures yet, just a video of the damage

http://www.rtl.nl/(vm=/actueel/rtlboulevard/home/)/system/video/html/components/actueel/rtlboulevard/miMedia/2006/week50/do_zet_jij_hem_even_weg.avi_plain.xml

have to wait a bit till the dutchies stop yapping...
dude in the suit was the one who supposed to drive the Nissan

When I don't want someone driving my $850,000 supercar, I take the keys and lock it. It works 90% of the time.

that's not the worst of the funny Dutch names

there are some pretty weird ones , but can't translate it , it looses it's power if i do

but either way the story goes that most dutchies didn't have last names untill they came under Napoleonic rule, who insisted that everybody had to have a last name, (Napoleon did instate some good things like house numbers for instance) and in an act of rebellion , the Dutchies picked really stupid names...

like John Brick
or Tom Dead
Nancy Strong
or An SkinRash

these are just examples in English ,i've seen really effed up ones that .. which is tough if they are your customer and you have to keep a straight face...

somebody was around to prep it or something
we're talking about an F1 driver who isn't usually worried about somebody steeling his ride right from out of the pitlane

everybody was clearly told not to drive it
this guy who did, obviously did a no no which you could expect from a 15 year old with daddies car, but not from a 38 yeard old professional racer/race instructor...

I see your point, although I think I would trust the 15 year old over the race instructor.

Obviously you are underestimating the power of the ego.

i didn't , i wouldn't leave my 944 with the keys in it anywhere
this guy's ego however, will be paying for it bigstyle

the owner of the car allready commented that he expects the offender to take responsibility

this is a millionaire saying that the other guy better step up to the plate for the 120 000 euro bill. which to me says ; i can pay for it, and probably will pay for it, but not without making you pay for it to the max as well

I dunno, i'd expect it around a race car driver. For sure.

The owner of the car was asking for trouble by providing his car in the first place. Even the driver who was supposed to drive it may have wrecked it on the track. The track looked wet to me. Send the check to Albers and learn a good lesson. Even Porsche dealerships have specially trained mechanics who are certified to drive the cars. Don't lend them out.
