damages

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/AFTER_GUANTANAMO?SITE=FLPET&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

so , did these former detainees get any payment for the treatment they got but didn't deserve?

360 released because they turned out to be not the savage brutal killers that the US governement made them out to be

of those 360 , 245 were tracked down and 205 of those were released without much else, and 40 of em got some form of sentence in their own country and suspect that wasn't with proper trial and defence, right, let alone a real reason , because if there was, the US would have kept them in Guantanamo right?

3 years beeing treated like a dog, not even like a criminal who at least get's a cell, not an open cage...

Quote:
A senior Pakistani Interior Ministry official said investigators determined that most had been "sold" for bounties to U.S. forces by Afghan warlordswho invented links between the men and al-Qaida. "We consider them innocent," said the official, who declined to be named because of the sensitivity of the issue.
winning hearts and minds with dollars for Warlords?
no wonder Osama is still at large... if this is the way Intel is aquired...no wonder why people get slightly irrate at the US governement at what it does...wouldn't you be ticked off if a foreign nation did this to you?

Payment? Many of them deserved to be shot on the battlefield, where they were found. Treated like a dog? Well, they were in the most part found doing something related to the war on terror and again, should have been shot like a dog, something that you will not understand until the terrorists bomb something in Rotterdamm, and bring the war to YOUR HOME.

They were not sent there because they were in an ice cream truck that had a flat and parked illegally on a street, most of them were sent there because they are terrorists who were found with bombs, weapons, plans on their person, or they were in the middle of trying to kill our forces or even better, innocent civilians like yourself.

Yes, some of them may be innocent, having been "sold" to an informant for whatever reason. If you want to go after someone, then go after the person back in Afganistan or Pakistan who "sold" them to the authorities to get rid of them. I can almost guarantee you that if they had been found to be completely not guilty that they never would have been sent to Gitmo.

Once again, what is your military or Intel background? Just how much do you know about how any professional organization acquires intelligence?

Irate at the US Govt? Not a problem... next time Holland needs help, and its called upon us twice in the last century, we will remind you that you now do not like us nor our help and please deal with the new enemy on your own.

There is a war going on around the world and the sooner you figure this out, the better. Theo van Gogh found out about it and paid for it with his life. A lot of Dutch have opened their eyes in the last two years after several terrorist attacks. Hopefully someday you will as well but I sure doubt it.

has nothing to do with inprisoning civilians who were sold by ransom by warlords...

if you pay these thugs money , they will even give up their own grandmother with a claim they are Al Qeda ringleaders..

if these badguys were so bad, then why did the US release em?
why were they not prosecuted? why did the US not put them on trial as an example to the world??

answer me that one, Joe "i'm so tough" Aksa, who knows everything there is to know about Intel and saving the world from baddies ?

another thing mr "i know every thing about Wars and whatnot"
the US didn't help out Holland twice, just once, and you really gotta stop using that line , it's getting old,
the US did get in it for it's own reasons, the US wasn't unselfish in that way during WW2

Not to worry, next time we will not help and you can be over-run by the enemy, whoever it is.

No one knows it all, but civilians like yourself who have absolutely no background in this seem to know the most and continue to spout off how terrible this and that is, when for the most part these people were in Gitmo for a reason. They were released in many cases after public pressure. Hope that they come and live next door to your house and you can enjoy them.

Not tough or trying to be tough at all but at least I have a backbone and stand up against the people who are trying to end our civilization as we know it. You are the one who seems to be trying to portray me as tough, not me.

JA

PS, ever think that some of these people being released are very, very guilty and very dangerous and that they are being released so that we can follow them back to their group and then arrest the entire lot of them? Its a very successful way of doing things, not that you would know anything about it...

that's the age old "you know nothing but i do , but i can't tell you , because you don't know nothing and as such are not qualified, so you do as i say when i say it without questioning me, because i know things you don't know "

yeah right, the Nazi's did similar tricks

Quote:
-- Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
still have to keep in mind, that you guys only helped out holland once, not twice, but considering you keep whipping out the bill for 2, i guess you boys owe Holland 1? does that make sense to you?

with a tag line in your signature like

Quote:
If I speak to people calmly and clearly, I can articulate my position- especially if they can see that the safety is off"
or lines like

implying that you did have such a background, and you do know all about it...

i'de say it's pretty clear who portrays himself as a tough guy

I love you too and hope that when the terrorists move in next door that you love them as well.

Just remember that you do not need our help, so when the bombs start going off, turn to France or Germany and beg for assistance.

just remember that Holland is allready helping out the US, and has seen an uprise of terrorisme related problems for doing so...

again , since you seem to think that Holland has been bailed out twice allready, yet the reality is it was just once, (and Holland is owed 1 by the US in your reality)
this holland helping out the US in it's coalition then to me seems like in your logic US owes Holland 2?

They probably lived better in prison than they did on the outside.

The only payment they will get is a vest packed with explosives and a ridiculous promise of some virgins after they blow up a bus full of innocent people. Hopefully you or your family won't be on that bus.
