Is it good? Is the Pope a kraut?

scottmandue 12-15-2006 01:04 PM

I mean... at two hours long it better be good. :p

RallyJon 12-15-2006 01:07 PM

If you don't like it, ask for your money back.

try THREE hours, it's still a great movie. Think you'll enjoy it even if you've seen it before.

If you like Steve McQueen, you'll like The Getaway.

Thank you for the best 6 minutes and 58 seconds I've had today.

I found it hard to believe that the veternarians chick would jump in bed with the bad guy like that...damn that Sally Struthers.. but it was the 70s and anything went...

widgeon13 12-15-2006 06:22 PM

sam Peckinpaugh, great producer

Slim Pickens makes the movie for me, what a super closing.

If you like Peckinpaugh, you should see The Wild Bunch. William Holden, Ernest Borgnine, Warren Oates, Ben Johnson, Robert Ryan, Edmund O'Brien, Strother Martin, Dub Taylor, and more.

Bob's Flat-Six 12-15-2006 06:48 PM

That was beautiful when he punches out the whining Sally Struthers.

tabs 12-15-2006 11:59 PM

It was a Sam Peckinpah movie WITH Steve McQueen

Pat Garret and Billy the Kid...Kris Kristopherson, James Colburn and Alias Alias
Ballad of Cable Hogue...Jason Robards and Stella Stevens
Cross of Iron..James Colburn
Major Dundee...Charlton Heston, Senta Berger and Richard Harris

And the Wild Bunch...cited above but don't forget LQ Jones and Albert Deker

The remake of the Get Away absolutely SUCKED

I love how both the Mustang and the charger both had the rare optional 7 or 8 speed transmissions. Great chase.

The Getaway is a great movie. Tivod when I saw it was playin.

hatpix 12-16-2006 09:52 AM

Speaking of transmissions, when McQueen is driving in that clip, he's doing something that sounds like a double blip when he's shifting. Any ideas? Double clutching maybe?

Peckinpah's "Wild Bunch" is good for a western, but if you want brain-warping psychological Peckinpah, you have to watch "Straw Dogs" or "The Cross of Iron."

"The Getaway" is also outstanding. It was said of that movie that with Peckinpah's direction, when a character was hit by a shotgun blast by Steve McQueen, the audience could feel it. :D

Great, but I think Mcqueen passed the same green VW 3 times!
