craftsman quiet glide quality vs. ball bearing?

Has anyone owned the Craftsman quiet glide tool boxes for any length of time? They are having a pretty good sale ($300 for 3pc set) and i am mighty tempted. Generally folks say go ball bearing but....

I really like the CSPS boxes at Sam's but the cheapest is $460 and $160 is a fair amount of tool money.

Thanks,

Erik

I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.

If you mean the kind of Craftsman box that has no bearings just the "V" riding within a "V" type slider then I'm your man.

I've had my boxes with those sliders for AT LEAST 20 years. They've always worked fine for me. In my bottom box I have some heavy crap too, so its not because I don't subject them to much load.

Are they as smooth as ball bearings? Probably not. You DO get what you pay for. I think I've taken my drawers out, wiped down the grooves and re-lubed with white lithium grease maybe once or twice in the whole time. They work fine.

I am currently Jonesing over the real tall dual stainless steel tool boxes they have at Costco for just under $700. I don't really need them....I just want 'em.

Just an FYI: The Craftsman boxes are made by Waterloo (at least the ball bearing ones are) and are available through them directly or online, minus the Craftsman mark-up.

Wayne, Do you know when this might happen? I'll spend my $$ with you before Costco or Sams club. Let us know
