The most ethical House ever...

The most ethical House ever...those words ring more hollow every day. The Democrats are taking ethiocs to a new low:

Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) has "accepted responsibility" for possibly violating House rules by requiring his official staff to perform campaign-related work, according to a statement quietly released by the House ethics committee late Friday evening….

Yeah, straight from the Decider "no nation building" presidents hit team.

cool_chick 12-31-2006 05:38 AM

Hell yeah they're much more ethical.....accountability rocks. Before, they would've swept it under the rug, then if they found they couldn't, try to change the ethics rules...

Moses 12-31-2006 06:10 AM

On a scale of 0 to 10, this is a solid "1".

Porsche-O-Phile 12-31-2006 07:11 AM

So let's look at this:

Congress that allows for known molestation of little boys by one of its own members to continue unchecked - "okay"

Congress that allows for use of staff resources for campaign efforts to continue unchecked - "taking ethics to a new low"

You must be Catholic with those standards.

Well, these "that's true, but ...." responses certainly prove Dennis Miller's classic line is based in truth:

Miller: "Do you know why I'm no longer liberal? Because I wanted to stop my sentences one word short of the word "but." You know, as a liberal, I found myself using the word "but" more frequently than a proctologist filling out his day planner."

:D

People really think this House is going to be significantly more ethical than the last House?

Or the one before that? Or before that?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

That's why it's OUR job to hold them accountable. Not play this lame-ass excuse game if it's of "my party." If we all would get our heads out of our asses and quit looking at party first before making the decision to hold them accountable, then we would have an ethical congress.

As of now, I can't attest to whether they will or will not be ethical, I am not a fortuneteller, but I EXPECT them to be ethical, I expect them to act on corruption for a change, something we haven't seen in a while....

It's impossible to expect 435 people in any industry will be "ethical"....the expectation is to address and root out the unethical behavior, not excuse it if it's party X or party Y.

What is amazing is how quick liberals on this BBS and democrats in general are to excuse or minimalize wrongdoing by the current crop of democrats…while they call themselves the most ethical ever. From Kennedy who committed manslaughter/murder to Hastings who, as a judge, was impeached by the house on 17 counts including perjury, bribery, and fabrication of evidence. Jefferson who recently accepted a $100,000 bribe from an FBI informant that was later found in his freezer, Reid accepting expensive boxing tickets in an apparent quid pro quo. Pelosi recently paid a $21,000 fine for campaign finance irregularities, Dorgan was force to return tens of thousands of dollars he improperly received from Indian tribes…Corzine and Murtha have been implicated in recent unethical practices…Now Conyers.
Clearly there is a pattern of corruption and the excusing thereof…by the democrat’s constituency…yet instead of condemning them for their lack of efforts…all democrats do is make some unrelated remark about the war…as if that somehow excuses criminal, or at the minimum…unethical behavior by their own representatives. It is pathetic.

I tried to be a good Republican, but I couldn't manage to stay angry 24/7. :p

I tried to be a good Democrat, but I couldn't manage to stay stupid 24/7 without chemical assistance. Dishonesty...or at least excusing it was even more difficult.

Jim Richards 12-31-2006 09:57 AM

Actually, it hasn't abated (the anger, or flintstone's case - the delusions), despite 6 years controlling all three branches of Federal gov't. Whassup? Not getting laid (enough)? :p

Have a Happy New Year, and keep smiling, folks. :)

A good joke (like calling Dems ethical) will alleviate anger...what will liberals do about being stupid (in Jim's case - maybe ignorance)? Wassup? Killed too many brain cells...or just pretending?) :p

Happy New Year. :)

Seems as if the audience for "left wing" bashing is geting smaller by the day.....

Perhaps rational people are beginning to understand that neither moral values nor skulduggery are the purvue of any one party or political belief system.
