Bears...WTF!
I don't even know where to start...they were pathetic.
they won the fiesta bowl! whats wrong? go CAL!
I was speaking of the NFL team with a record good enough to get a first-round by in the playoffs, and who got their butts kicked by a team with an inferior record.
yea..they are pathetic. since i got those screw on bear proff cans...they have not even been in the same zip...oh wait are we talking about real bears?
Yeah I'd be worried. The team playing at the highest level and on a roll usually makes it through to the Superbowl.
The Bears peaked way to early in the season. Their injuries on defense are killing them now. I am not sure how they managed the rest of the season with Gross Rexman on offense either. However, when you get the ball on your opponents 40 4-5 times a game it can make numbers look good. There was a reason Ron Wolf did not trade up to draft him.
Fortunately for the Bears the rest of the NFC looks like crap as well. I thought the Cowboys were going to be the team to beat until they layed an egg against Detroit. |
dammit, i was suckered into this thread hoping to see Grizzly or Kodiac pictures or something... instead it's about "rugby for girls who need padding and a helmet"
i suspect it was the last game of the regular season. and so it didnt matter whether they won or lost going into the playoffs.
didnt they start their backups? |
They started Grossman at QB, he was pathetic. He only completed passes to the other team. They put in the 2nd stringer in the second half, but the damage was already done.
NFC.
I dont agree with the theory of pulling starters and coasting for the remainder of the regular season. Too many teams have lost their momentum and edge. Just look at the Colts from 1 or 2 seasons ago. Sometimes you cant just flip the switch back on.
Hook, I agree. This is why it was particularly disturbing to see the Bears' starting QB fall flat on his face.
I agree with the injuries analysis but also consider:
If you've already clinched a playoff berth, your division, a first-round bye AND home-field advantage for the playoffs, why do you really care about bringing your "A" game (or "B" game or "C" game) to an inconsequential game against a third-rate team? Cripes, I'd have even considered sitting my starters, but for the fact I'd want them to have a little field time to not get rusty after two weeks off. . . |
You must also consider that the Bears really aren't that good to begin with. It doesn't take much of a letdown to look aweful. :D

Now your talking. I've never seen such a high seeded team go in the playoffs with such little faith. |
I kinda thought that they would tank after the 4th or 5th game when a lot of the 'fans' started talking Super Bowl. Seems like when all that B.S. started, the players lost their focus. Surely not the same team.
legion, haven't you realized by now that Brett Favre is the Mayor of Chicago? Other than last year, I can't think of a time he's lost in Illinois. :)
