What kind of a bike?

My son's current project after his first run on it. Its a 74' Yamaha 200 two stroke. Only thing he is using is the motor and half the frame! He even made his own exhaust chambers.

Ain't no 'cafe' but since we have that wicked looking Duc above and now the Yami 2 stroke project pics, maybe mix them both and.....

I think it was a 60s thing. Triumph still offers one right off the showroom. 2013 Triumph Scrambler | motorcycle review @ Top Speed |
I think that Duc is what is called brat style..

I don't get the no-front-fender thing. Purely a fashion statement with no practical value no matter how far you stretch. Kind of like ape-hangers. Ridiculous. Does anyone prefer getting sprayed with water every time they encounter a wet road?
|
Mike- Surely is a minimalistic stylin' thing. No practical value. The high moto-x 'mudguards' evolved for clogging mud and the evolution of suspension travel. Funny when I now think of it, my old Rickman dirt racer had low mount mudguards. Anything goes today.

I didn't have my camera with me - argh. But it was very impressive. About 150 to 200 guys did a "Mods and Rockers" ride around the bays yesterday. Lots of cafe racer bikes, scooters with guys in suits white shirts skinny ties. The leather jackets riding triumphs and Nortons. I'm not sure where the brawl would be as we don't really have a mini-Brighton around here.

Finally after 7 years. It started , ran, and moved....I think I can say...it's done. 78 750F--which I took on trade for my 80 Moto Morini 500. 16K miles I swapped the highway bars for drag bars, dumped the highway pegs, ditched the pods for the stock box, cleaned sealed carbs, completley rebuilt the brakes (including calipers, lines and MC), new tires/tubes, cleaned up/painted the areas where the battery had leaked, had the king/queen seat cut down and recoverd and now have this:

Now, I get to move on to this:
75 750F very tatty--with a bizarre seat/rear section. Luckily I have a Dunstall which is going to look juuust right--but have to tackle some other issues first. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1413908989.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1413909005.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1413909069.jpg |
