AutoEnginuity ScanTool Kit for PC from Pelican

Is there any disadvantage to buying AutoEnginuity ScanTool from pelican as opposed to the manufacturer? It is $20 cheaper here and I think free shipping.

Any comments on using it?

It is not for my 911 it is for a GM vehicle and a Subaru WRX.

I e-mailed them and they said they are working on a Subaru specific package (bi directional) like the $149 one they have for GM.

No comments on using it but saving $20 helps and supporting the Pelican BBS helps even more than that.

Would be no question for me if I needed the tool.

Is this the gizmo that lets you read and clear codes, and re-set the service light?

Pissed me off. Went to order it and it says it qualifies for free shipping. Go to check out and it says shipping $8. Call sales and get a blah blah blah system won't let me do that.

Guess that $8 cost me $12 and pelican whatever profit they would have made.

No but stuff like that ticks me off.

I click on the link in the cart and it says this qualifies for free shipping. You call them up and get transfered around to voice mail hit *280 a couple times listen to more music for a while. And after that get a "our website must be wrong" and "it doesn't qualify".

After weighing the pros and cons, doing a cost benefit analysis of a toy I wanted but can't justify and am really borderline on buying anyway am I supposed to say OK it isn't the price that was advertised but thats alright.

Assume that you got the name of the person who told you the website is wrong?

I have never had anything but customer service at Pelican bend over backwards to help when something like this happens. Bet that Wayne (the owner) will chime in here but if you can prove (print out that page on the internet saying shipping is free) that it says this that you would be taken care of.

PS Before harpooning Pelican like this on THEIR website, personally I would have called and asked (or emailed) Wayne personally. Just the way I would have done things.

Ok calmed down, not pissed anymore. I could be wrong and not read close enough.

By the total on the order I saw this:

$75 of qualifying parts earns FREE shipping on those parts! [learn more]
Click here for recommended items that qualify for FREE shipping, based upon items in your shopping cart.

When I clicked I saw this;

I assumed it applied to the items in my cart.
