Never underestimate your wife. And, that's why you married her.

I also have a college music minor, with parents who listened to all of the
classics (and opera) every day of my life.
And I can barely name any of them.... lol. Im much better at jazz compositions/artists.

Kudos to your woman. Maybe she will spend some of your money on you.

Doesn't seem like good odds to me. What do YOU get if she guesses wrong, a thousand dollars worth of ???????

Sounds like a win-win. A happy wife is a good thing. You will probably get a lot of mileage out of that thousand bucks.

Rick Lee 01-10-2007 03:59 AM

You always pay either way.

livi 01-10-2007 04:08 AM

BTDT. Ended up paying for two weeks on the Canary islands, all included..

Well, it wasn´t all that bad as I remember. :D

So, know I'm out a thousand dollars (probably from my car fund - yes, I have one of those just like you guys).
-Wayne

this fund answers to wholesale prices i suspect?

And I still can't get my wife to be able to tell the difference between the Beatles and the Yardbirds...

the 01-10-2007 07:07 AM

You have your wife well trained if she doesn't already have full and unfettered access to all of your funds. So that such a bet has any meaning and isn't like betting with yourself.

Good work!

stevepaa 01-10-2007 08:52 AM

My wife gets them right more than me now that she listens to classical over the TV where information on composer is also presented.

svandamme 01-10-2007 08:55 AM

i can send you boys some proper Euro trash techno of which i'm sure they won't guess the name of the tune... just give me the word and i'll go ask my neighbour a few stories up in my building... for some of the junk he has blasting out of his speakers so often...

Interestingly, that sounds exactly like what my boss used to say...

You weren't really playing any odds because there was nothing she had to pay if she guessed incorrectly.

That was a good bet. With a flush in your hand, you've got to assume you're going to win the hand.

Perhaps the offered reward should be a Victoria's Secret shopping spree. That way, you won't be so bummed when she begins to learn music trivia.

Superman 01-10-2007 12:56 PM

I always prefer the "win/win" approach.
