A question for our MDs
We will be babysitting my wife's 1 y/o niece this weekend. She was diagnosed with strep throat yesterday and is now on antibiotics. Will she still be contagious by Saturday? Thanks.

I'm not a doctor but I play one on Pelican OT.
The answer to your questions is YES |
I'm no doc either but I have Google..........
How long is my child contagious from a sore throat? For strep throat treated with antibiotics, your child is no longer contagious after 24 hours of antibiotics (it used to be 48 hours, but was recently changed to 24 hours). For viral sore throat, your child is no longer contagious once he has been fever free for 24 to 48 hours (without any medication to hide the fever). |
I am not a doctor, but I do have a daughter.

Google is your friend. Thanks!

My Son just got over it and those were the instructions our Dr. gave us. 24 hours after starting the antibiotics.

She should not be contagious after a week on antibiotics...
