Yo Milt! Please read

Milt, I got your PM, but unable to respond by PM or email. Emails I send to both you and Evren come back as undeliverable. Probably email problems on my end. May take time to solve. So, watch your snail mail box....I printed everything out, stuffed envelopes to both you and Evren. Monday a federal holiday, but it will leave here Tuesday. Hey, it's snail mail...but eventually you'll see it. Tried to PM you as well, but got a window saying that was a no-no. Sorry, Paul

pwd72s 01-14-2007 01:19 PM

Bump...calling Milt...you out there???

Icemaster 01-15-2007 10:00 AM

Courtesy Bump.

speeder 01-15-2007 10:43 AM

Milt supposedly left Pelican in a huff after I checked his attitude on a thread recently. At least that is what he told me in a PM that could not be replied to. No need to look for him here, apparently.

pwd72s 01-15-2007 11:49 AM

Hmmm...what year Huff did he leave in? Hey, I can Identify with that. I did the same over on the S registry board. Figured out I already know what my car is...didn't need to listen to tall dawgs bragging about how many $$$$ high they can pee up a lampost.

Zeke 01-15-2007 05:12 PM

I lurk occasionally. Pretty fed up with the dogs, as well. Gotcha covered, PW. Thanks for the message. And, yes, I did turn off emails and PM's. Don't need it anymore.

azasadny 01-15-2007 05:28 PM

milt,
Don't go anywhere. What would we do without you?

Missed this dust-up....

Icemaster 01-16-2007 03:31 AM

Stick around Milt, the dogs arent worth getting worked up over. I just pick & choose the fray's I want to enter, that works for me, maybe you also. Besides - if you leave, they win.

You'd be missed.

One of many. Ain't no big deal, really. My opinions are not ordinary. I'm out of the box more than in. When and if I learn to keep to myself, I will be the one to gain the most benefit.

The thing speeder refers to is when I said fastpaste was only here to yank everyone's chain and if you respond (ala the old tabs), you only helped his cause. Denis thinks I should not play God. I agree, but at the same time, I asked Denis to just move on if we ever ran into one another.

Normally, I say that 1 in 12 just can't get along no matter how they try. Best to just walk away on a permanent basis. However, if one does express himself regarding volatile topics, and tends to wear his heart on his sleeve, then there will be additional ruffled feathers.

I'm not a happy camper to begin with. The US society I grew up with, became an adult in, and now, officially a senior, has been trashed. The city I live in is particularly trashed. It's not easy to pull up and just move. I tried that 2wice to smaller towns in NV and AL. I couldn't scratch a meager living in either for a number of reasons. So, I'm back in my home town ghetto (since '95) and I pretty much hate life in this city. I'm not about to sell and step from one bucket of crap into another. Most US cities have the same deterioration.

Rather than let that show, as I have many times in the past, I've simply decided to limit my outbursts. If I do express an opinion, those who don't agree with me can pound sand. I don't have the time nor inclination to suffer other's narrow view points. I won't say I'm "a man of wealth and taste," but rather a man of taste and a wealth of good sense.

And now I have the good sense to wander away from the pissing contest. If you piss in one place too long, it just stinks. Goes for me; goes for you.

Rich76_911s 01-16-2007 07:24 AM

Well that stinks. This morning when I woke up I was thinking, I wonder what Milt is doing with his Carerra. I hope it is going well, and I hope to hear a little about it in the future. I want to see some pics too! Keep up the good fight.

Rich

Zeke 01-16-2007 07:38 AM

Hey Rich, not to worry. I will post anything significant about my car. And, I have acquired some front and rear bumper parts from RS's from both the early car and from the 964 RS. I intend to blend these into a tribute to both cars. I'm putting a lot of thought into this. When I'm done, I'm going to designate it a Carrera R. Should be interesting.

motion 01-16-2007 08:37 AM

Milt,

You sound like you really need to get out of Dodge. Staying here can't be good for you. Have you thought of moving to a small town with low overhead and working at the local hardware store? Maybe supplementing your income with some eBay sales activity? I know I'm oversimplifying things, but sometimes drastic times call for drastic measures. I'd hate to see you being miserable and not doing anything about it.

scottmandue 01-16-2007 08:52 AM

Milt,

Correct me if I am wrong. are you in Long Beach, CA.?

Porsche-O-Phile 01-16-2007 08:53 AM

Geez, man. Sorry to hear about this. Your decision I guess but for one, I hope you stick around. "Don't let the ba$tards grind you down", you know?

I totally see your point about the deterioration of life in the USA though. My hometown (back east, folks still live there) has transformed from a pretty decent middle-class Boston suburb to a damn-near urban ghetto in a lot of areas. It sucks. I hate going back there. In the parks where I used to play little league or ride bikes or just hang out with friends as a kid, now there are tweekers and meth-heads and gangsta-idolizers blasting hip-hop crap on 500-watt stereos from their dilapidated Honda Civics. It blows. I can relate a bit here in the LBC too (although you've been here a lot longer than I). In the few years I've been here, I've seen a lot of change - and not for the better in the vast overwhelming majority of cases. Too bad - I like this town. I thought it was one of the "best kept secrets" of SoCal for a long time and I rather liked the fact that it represented something OTHER than L.A. and it's "schit-pit" pseudo-culture. But it's being assimilated at an alarming rate. The distance barrier that I once took comfort in as a buffer against the onslaught of everything I hate in SoCal (namely L.A.) is quickly shrinking.

I'll stop my rant here though. Like you said, if I piss in one place too often or too much, it'll just start to stink. But I empathize.

Hope you stick around some. Cheers.

scottmandue 01-16-2007 09:19 AM

Jeff and Milt,

Okay I'm just an outsider who zips over the bridge to party with my my OC friends in the shiny new downtown Long Beach but some people I talk to think the "new" Long Beach is pretty nice.
Are you bummed because the chain restaurants have taken over the harbor front? (we are fighting hard to keep that from happening here in San Pedro). I know north L.B. is a sheet hole but in the thirty years I have been able to drive it has always been that way and hopefully as they fix up downtown property values will go up and push the undesirables further north.

Anyway just curious what the local L.B. folks feel about what's happening to their town.

Try to find a "local hardware store" in this area. They all folded...
Home Depot has arrived.

motion 01-16-2007 10:55 AM

I think Milt needs a town too small to support a Home Depot. They are out there... thousands of em :)

jorian 01-16-2007 12:22 PM

Not sure what Milt needs, but without change you can't expect improvement. My Dad is in his 70's, has a pile of cash, a great lifestyle yet he's happiest when he's grumpy. I don't get it. He sued to be a glass half full guy but he see alot to be bummed about. Perspective is a ***** depending on your errrr perspective. My Mom is busier now than when she was working. Volunteer work, trips, pro bono work. She's very happy. Go figure.

I don't know Milt but I like his posts. Hopefully things change for you.
