ColtsvPatriots--WOW

Wow, I cant believe it. The Colts vs. the Patriots. Can anything be more unthinkable than this? And its being held in INDY. The Colts cound'nt have a easier time to the Super Bown than this, or could they? Any thoughts on the outcome?

All I know is there will be a whole lot of cheering for the Colts from this house!!

I don't think even Manning could lead this Colts team to failure this year. They proved they can win a game without him throwing for a touchdown on Saturday.

Sonic dB 01-14-2007 08:12 PM

Brady and Manning will always be known together and intertwined when people look back on this era of pro football. They have been in some epic battles.

The Pats have beaten the Colts in every important game (ie playoffs) that have mattered. Peyton has continued to struggle in the post season... even this year. For whatever reason, the guy has not been a big game player, in college or pro.. he has been OK in some, but not enough to take a team down the field to win the game. Its a mental thing. Brady will always have the competitive edge over Peyton, even though Peyton has a stronger arm and more offensive weapons to work with... To say that this will be "easy" for the Colts, is extremely naieve and premature without considering the past history between the two teams. It should be a good game.

Porsche-O-Phile 01-14-2007 08:46 PM

I'm absolutely confident Dungy and Manning will figure out a way to blow it in the postseason once again.

CJFusco 01-14-2007 09:47 PM

You can't count the Pats out of any post-season contest.

on-ramp 01-15-2007 04:17 AM

how many Superbowls must the Pats win before gaining respect from the sports press?

this is astounding.

the Colts don't have a high powered running back anymore. If the Pats can beat the Charges in San Diego, then Colts no big deal, given their history.

btw, Brady/Belichik are 12-1 in post season playoff games.

Wrecked944 01-15-2007 05:14 AM

Pats 21
Colts 13

Looking forward to Super Bowl XX - The Rematch!

Joseph Addai is a freak. There is a good reason Marshall Faulk was released after he was drafted.

At the end of the first?

Porsche-O-Phile 01-15-2007 06:12 AM

LOL!

The big two questions are:

1. "Will Indy's defense decide to show up this week?" and
2. "Will New England's offense decide to show up this week?"

The NE offense looked largely like crap yesterday. To compete against Indy, who will no doubt be putting up some big points, you need to be able to counter. If they play like they did yesterday in S.D. Indy will slaughter them. However I think the odds of that happening are pretty slim. They had 35 points last week and 40+ the two (or was it three?) weeks before that. They're more than capable - it just wasn't there yesterday except on a couple of lucky, hurried-up drives. You can't win a championship that way - sooner or later your luck will run out.

I think the final will be more like 38-33 N.E. in a heck of a good game.

JCF 01-15-2007 06:18 AM

Brady will have to play better this week (he WILL) but even if he doesn't
and PM plays like he has been playing....Pats win.

Vinitieri scares me a little though. He's magic. Colts lose against the Ravens without him - Vanderjerk would have missed at least two.

Gotta love the sports press - underdogs forever!

My thoughts are that the Pats are about to win their 4th SB title....and do it on pure luck.

They lucked out yesterday with that INT-Fumble, as the game had for all intents and purposes just been sealed by the Chargers. I don't think the Colts have a prayer.

21-12 NE.

You must be joking!!

Heres for anybody to win other then the Patriots. The team and the head coach just flat out bore me. Yeah, I know they won, but I would much rather watch a Chargers-Colts game then a Patriots game that wins with another boring field goal. And whats with the Patriots Gangster attitude lately? Show some class.

LOL. Not everybody can be as classy as LaDainian Tomlinson. Just ask him: "You guys know me, im a very classy person," Tomlinson said. Toooo funny!

VincentVega 01-15-2007 08:52 AM

It's hard to pick against the Pats, they always find a way to win in the playoffs. However, with the Colt's defense finally showing up, I cant wait for this game.

Addai is a fantastic back, what issues do you see with him?

Is it the 1,000 yards on the ground? The nearly 5 yard per carry average? The 8 touchdowns?

He is a stud my friend.

And don't forget Vinitieri - That's what makes me nervous.
Big mistake, letting him go.

I wouldn't get carried away. 1000 yds is no big deal in the NFL. I think i heard the other day that a record-tying 23 backs surpassed that mark this season. Addai does seem like a good player, but it's too early to call him a 'stud'.

It is when you didn't even start till 3/4 of the way through the season. He only carried like 220 times, 1k yards from that is stellar.

You're right that it is early to annoint him, but as a rookie you can't do much better.

Porsche-O-Phile 01-15-2007 09:50 AM

Yea, I don't like Viniteiri in any uniform other than a NE one - the guy is good.

Although I have to say they made the right call - they had to do what they had to do, payroll-wise. This new kid Gotskowski seems to have it wired up pretty good also. . . although he's no "Mister Clutch". . . not yet anyway. I think he can do it if he's called upon.

pwd72s 01-15-2007 10:13 AM

I just love the playoffs! A boring blow-out is NOT in the cards with this one. Possibly the two best QB's in the nation squaring off...I'll be tuned in.

Shuie quote:

I was speaking to the quote that Faulk was released for Addai?? Faulk has never been released?? Faulk left the Colts in 98, when did Addai start - Straighten me out as I am confused??

I dont know if one year makes him a stud.

Shuie obviously has confused James and Faulk.

Sonic dB 01-15-2007 11:58 AM

He just got the name wrong, he meant Edgerin James...not Faulk. Probably brain freeze

dd74 01-15-2007 12:53 PM

I can't stand either team. Come on Saints!

on2wheels52 01-15-2007 03:30 PM

"Brady/Belichik are 12-1 in post season playoff games"

What does that have to do with anything? They are both pretty good teams to make it this far, I can't see it being other than 50-50 save any home field advantage. Play the game.
