OK, looks like we finally have a destination!! Putting together the final information, but we are now planning to move to Northern Kentucky, south of Cincinnati!!!
Next order of business: Temporary housing, Wife's employment, and a 964 C4 for The Wife to drive!!! We will eventually be looking for 30 plus acres and a house or 30 plus acres to build on. Any thoughts are appreciated!

A guy that used to work for me was from Dry Ridge, my brother moved to Lexington.
There are some good beers and whiskies you can only buy in KY. Your a 4 hour drive to Indy. and 1 hour from Cinci. If you do not mind cold winters your in heaven. Oh and the best part? You will only be a 5 hour drive from the Pelicans on the Dragon meet. Good luck and congrats!

Jim,
Depends on where we end up! I'll be just outside of Cincinnati, Rebecca still has to locate work in the area. She LOVES horses and our four remaining will fit in with the dressage crowd. Yep, closer to The Dragon!!! We will miss Texas, but it is for the best. I've lived in Wyoming and Belgium so the cold will not be that bad. Rebecca spent some time in Detroit so she can cope. Nine months of bliss and three months of mixed blessings, not an issue!!

Just curious; if too personal a question I understand but what does it look like 30 acres to build on will cost there? I am assuming this acreage would have trees and water on it?
Part of me would love to pull out of SoCal with my home equity and move somewhere like this where I might be able to live much better. Famly ties prevents me though. I could never live far away from my children and my soon-to-be grandchildren.

Northern KY has seen a spike in the RE market Southern KY is still more resonable. (and much prettier in my opinion)

Plan on attending "Porsches to Oxford" in July 2007 as Oxford is not far from Cincinnati and is the home of Miami University and it's a fun get-together. Here's a link, see you there!

Dear god why?
Just kidding. Welcome to the area. What part of NKY are you planning on settling in? PM if I can help, I'm 5 minutes north of downtown Cinci.

My dad lived in Louisville for a while. I drove from Philly to visit him a few times.
One word of advice, when exploring the excellent backroads of rural KY, know where you're going and know when to stop. I lock my doors when driving downtown at night. And I damn well locked my doors when I came into the "village" at the end of one of those twisty Kentucky roads. Got the hell out of there before any pig squealing got started. ![]() |

Cincinnati, a great place to be from. As long as you don't live there anymore. I'm a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and my family moved from Dry Ridge to a little town called Hamilton, just down the road from Oxford.
We use to go over to Covington / Newport back in the days when that's where all the excitement was (Cincy is a very, very conservative city). Now, northern Kentucky is a nicer, respectable place. Pricing for land in Northen KY was been increasing every year. People who work in Cincy began moving there for affordability and the rolling hills. If you are looking for 30+ acres, you're probably going to be commuting a ways. Land isn't as cheap around there as it once was. Winters are grey. Summers around August are humid (being that you are in Texas, you might not even notice). Ohio is a police state. More highway patrol than you can ever imagine (revenue stream). Michael

It was, until the WestVirginia contingent moved in.
Of course, Cincinnati was the birth place of ParrotHeads!
