With that load average, I would have to ask what is the server used for (assuming it is a server with the amount of up days)

I'd be worried if I was using Unix.

If its running a DB than I would not be worried bout the up days. Has anyone been applying patches to both the Oracle and the UNIX OS? (What flavor of UNIX are you running?) I run about 30 Solaris 10 servers.

AIX? Step away from the bong....

I used to write code on RS/6Ks for a Wall Street co and those things did nothing but blow up all day.

press 1 for english.

We used to call the longest uptime the "methuselah award!"

if you reboot now, it will either run faster by clearing out the data cache or wont run at all..

YMMV

After that long, will you even remember -how- to reboot it?

Our coupl'a UNIX boxes only get rebooted when our lameass landlord kills our power, or we need to move 'em somewhere else. Most of the Windows servers get rebooted every 1-2 weeks, cuz they need it.

That is what you get for trying to run windows apps in wine on AIX! Now knock it off.

Really that has become the prefered enterprise Unix. 10 years ago I would have laughed and said never. However Carly screwed up HP-UX for the next 5-7 years and SUN is trying to find it's identity.......again.
