all the leaves are brown
and the sky is grey
I've been for a walk
on a winter's day

I'd be safe and warm
if I was in L.A
California Dreamin'
on such a winter's day

stopped into a church
I passed along the way
well, I got down on my knees
and I pretend to pray

you know the preacher likes the cold
he knows I'm gonna stay
California Dreamin'
on such a winter's day

all the leaves are brown
and the sky is grey
I've been for a walk
on a winter's day

if I didn't tell her
I could leave today
California Dreamin'
on such a winter's day x3

Aww, crap. That is truly a bummer. He wrote some wonderful stuff. Cass is gone, John Philiips is dead or is he? Michelle is an over surgeried never-was. Too bad, the Mama's and the Papa's represented a truly unique time period. RIP Denny.

he was GREAT in Theodore Tugboat. Seriously. Just like Carlin was great in Thomas the Tank Engine.

Sad day indeed

Joeaksa 01-19-2007 02:47 PM

Sad to see. RIP

He was part of a magical coming together of voices in that band; that was truly a moment in time.

His passing is sad, but the next 20 years is going to be a constant reminder of time (and our lives) going by as icons of the 20th century pass away. RIP. :(

Been lots of 5 minutes of fame in the last 50 years.

You still got that GPz? I keep kicking myself for selling my '81 after my kid was born in '89. Went eight years sans motorcycle.

Yes, they made some incredible music in a very short span of time. They had a sound/harmony that sounded like no one before and no one since. Considering their lifestyle, it's amazing any of them made it 60, yet 3 out of 4 did.

They had a tribute to the Mama's and Papa's on PBS a couple years ago. Michelle Phillips narrated some of it. It showed Cass Elliot driving up to the recording studio in a 911 in the late 60's.
