Fun with Cayenne Facelift - What do you think?

I just saw pics of the Cayenne's new facelift. Looks better, IMHO, not that it was hard to do...

It does look more aggressive, but it looks like some other minor SUV out there. I think that I am thinking of the Saturn one?

Obviously, it's still Porsche's least-desirable vehicle. But what does everyone think of the facelift.

i suggest about 1 gallon of gas and a bic....it is shameful that a company like Porsche ceded to trendies and made an suv.....

I'd suggest two gallons in case the cayenne's tank is empty

And yes I have driven one.

I've always said that if someone put a gun to my head and said, "you MUST have one SUV," I guess it would be a Cayenne Turbo. In all honesty, I feel like Jeep and Land Rover are really the only marques that have any right to market off-road trucks (with a few other exceptions of course). I guess I don't hate SUVs, but the fact that the SUV has become a status symbol and in the process lost its off-roading soul.

Of course, by most accounts the Cayenne Turbo is a pretty well-accomplished SUV. Fast, comfortable, easy to drive, safe, puts up fast lap times, and capable off-road. Do I want one? No. But the Cayenne is becoming an interesting part of Porsche history (remember, a lot of the Porsche faithful opposed the 914, 924, 944, and 928 when they were introduced - some still do).

It looks very japanese and like it just sucked on a bitter lemon.
Its crazy how homogenized a lot of these car designs are becoming....geeze the X5 looks way better than the Cayenne imo.

No improvement. Still perplexingly hideous. I kinda like the Touareg, can't stand the Cayenne. Hard to beleive something that looks so nice and something so ugly share so many parts.

Umm, and those that opposed the 924, 944 and 928 were right. Those cars are all relinquished to the Junk Heap of History. You rarely see a 924 on the road, 10 years from now you'll rarely see a 944, and in 15 youl'll never see any of them anymore. They are all one minor fenderbender away from the scrapyard.

Sounds to me like a cranky 911 owner had his butt handed to him by a 951 at some point...

I think it looks better, but an SUV that can't tow anything or go offroad is the ghey. If you want a fast vehicle that can comfortably seat 5 like the Cayenne, buy an M5.

Cranky 911 owner who had his butt handed to him by a 951... Thats great and made me smile. I can't wait to see the 951 that hands me my butt.

Well, a 965 isn't exactly your garden-variety 911, is it? I imagine someone that cranky driving a pre-impact bumper car. I'm not saying that's a bad thing - I love those cars - but it seems like "the earlier the 911, the more they hate the 944"

No, I think your 965 is safe. For now, at least... although there are 500+hp 951s out there...

Probably one of the best bargains in the Porsche world. Very cheap, and they go like hell. I'm not to familiar with them, but I'm told it is very easy to get even more HP out them.

That's why I bought one in Sept. instead of going for a 944S2, 968, or 911SC. You get 225hp/247lb-ft to begin with, which gives you numbers that are almost identical to a brand new 350Z (the reason I know this is because my neighbor has a 350Z; when I bought my car, he immediately installed nitrous into his). Lay out another $500 and you can get a chip set, boost controller/enhancer, FPR, and wastegate shims. Another $500 will get you a bigger intercooler and serious exhaust. The point of all this? Less than $1000 in upgrades, and all of a sudden you have a 300hp, 2800lb Porsche.
