GeheimStaatsPolitzei visits 81 year old man for letter to editor

Here you go, more police state action.

Pa. Man's Letter Brings Secret Service
Letter to the Editor Earns 81-Year-Old Pa. Man a Visit From Secret Service Agents

BETHLEHEM, Pa. Jan 21, 2007 (AP)— An elderly man who wrote in a letter to the editor about Saddam Hussein's execution that "they hanged the wrong man" got a visit from Secret Service agents concerned he was threatening President Bush.

The letter by Dan Tilli, 81, was published in Monday's edition of The Express-Times of Easton, Pa. It ended with the line, "I still believe they hanged the wrong man."

Tilli said the statement was not a threat. "I didn't say who I could've meant (Osama) bin Laden," he said Friday.

Two Secret Service agents questioned Tilli at his Bethlehem apartment Thursday, briefly searching the place and taking pictures of him, he said.

The Secret Service confirmed the encounter. Bob Slama, special agent in charge of the Secret Service's Philadelphia office, said it was the agency's duty to investigate.

The agents almost immediately decided Tilli was not a threat, Slama said

"We have no further interest in Dan," he said.

Tilli said the agents appeared more relaxed when he dug out a scrapbook containing more than 200 letters that he has written over the years, almost all on political topics.

"He said, 'Keep writing, but just don't make no threats,'" Tilli said of one of the agents.

It wasn't Tilli's first run-in with the federal government over his letter writing. Two FBI agents from Allentown showed up at his home last year about a letter he wrote advocating a civil war to unseat Bush, he said.

So, in the Land of the Free, if the Secret Service take an interest in you, they can enter and search your house?

They're supposed to have a Search Warrant before they can do so, but they've been known to intimidate people into allowing a "voluntary" search.

This hasn't been a free country since Franklin Roosevelt established the fascist democracy here, we've never recovered.

When you write a letter threatening the President of the United States, yes, you have just asked for a visit from the secret service. And yes, you will get one and if you do not let them in, they will get a court order to allow them to enter.

Its clearly an attempt to confirm if this is an real threat or another idiot. I say idiot as most people, even the stupid ones (like the two posting above) know that if you threaten the President the secret service will be visiting you.

Hey stuart, please send a threatening letter to the head of the country you live in and see what happens. Please tell us the results, if you are able that is.

The letter was a "letter to the editor" of a newspaper, and it threatened no one.

I know you're a supporter of the all powerful centralized state, and an unrestricted federal police, but so far, Joe, we don't quite have that yet. So, you'll have to wait for a few years.

Sorry but when you put into print saying that the President of the country should be hanged, that is a threat.

No matter if it was sent into the paper, email to a forum or where-ever, the second that he hit the enter or print button he just asked for it. He can think it all he wants to but when he shares it with one or 1 million people he just opened the door.

Stop trying to put words in my mouth or thoughts in my head. I want a police state no more than anyone does, but threatening a public official is asking to have your wee-wee slapped. He asked for it and now he got it. Its only people like you who see people hiding in the shadows out to get them like yourself who have a problem with this.

No, that's is not a threat. In order to do that, a person would have to capture a person surrounded by 5 or 6 dozen heavily armed and trained men and women. That's a scenario so unlikely as to be impossible. Only a complete incompetant would view it as a threat.

The positions you advocate can't be had via any other method, you are what you are. You just can't seem to be honest about that fact.

His letter to the editor said "I think they hung the wrong man"

Where is the threat to the President?

You are making assumptions and putting words in mouths of others just like Pat.

Guess you missed this part.

It wasn't Tilli's first run-in with the federal government over his letter writing. Two FBI agents from Allentown showed up at his home last year about a letter he wrote advocating a civil war to unseat Bush, he said.

Guess he needs to get together with slopat and fight the civil war again.

Me making assumptions? Funny thing is that the people who are in charge of protecting the President felt the same thing. Wonder why?

Since the War Against Southern Freedom wasn't about taking over the US government by a southern state or states, you're statement is without meaning, yet again.

You're not particularly knowledgable, historically speaking, are you Joe?

Interesting. The same group that sez we need to stockpile guns for the day we need to rise up against government tyranny at the same time advocates laying the smackdown on anyone who suggests such an uprising.

Yes, there is a dichotomy in their thinking, maybe even a disconnect.

This, I think, has to do with those that think the president should be treated as royalty.
