Porsche does not have a monopoly on sports cars, or SUV's.

Windfall taxes do not address monopolies. Eliot Spitzer, et al, take down monopolies.

That really seems to make sense... If you are after pure performance, Porsche today is not good bang for the buck.

Porsche has also lost money on cars too, and since Porsche is one of the smaller companies, so they need more money to operate, add in the fact that larger car companies produce and sell more volume, so they can afford less profit per unit.

Buy some Porsche shares. The profits will off-set the price gouging when you buy your new 997.
