Could you be thinking of Len Deighton's book, "SS GB"? The book is a couple of decades old, I think.
Premise is the Nazis managed to get across the Channel. Great Britain is under the thumb of the SS. IIRC, the protagonist is a London detective. LD is not my favorite author. Les

It may be "Fatherland" by Robert Harris. Not a compete "what-if" book but a detective story located in 1960s Nazi Germany.
