Sad. Are there really no contenders this year that has actually done something to bring peace. Only war mongers. No worthy peace fighters ?

The global warming issue is important of course..

LEESBURG, Va., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Landmark Legal Foundation today nominated nationally syndicated radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Limbaugh, whose daily radio show is heard by more than 20 million people on more than 600 radio stations in the United States and around the world, was nominated for the prestigious award for his "nearly two decades of tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all humankind, regardless of race, creed, economic stratum or national origin.
Is this a joke, why is it in the "Humor" section?

The Landmark Legal Foundation (LLF) has a $1 million annual budget and a reputation as a "conservative's American Civil Liberties Union." It has filed lawsuits against labor unions and school desegregation and has fought for legislation that would allow parents to direct public education funding toward their children's private schools.

Funding: In 2002 Landmark had revenues of $1,628,015 and expenses of $1,133,391. Major donors include the Sarah Scaife Foundation ($250,000 in 2002), Scaife-funded Carthage Foundation ($250,000 in 2002), Castle Rock Foundation ($25,000), the John M. Olin foundation ($30,000). All of these foundations are relatively consistent donors. e.g. in 2001, while the Carthage Foundation did not make a grant, the Sarah Scaife Foundation donated $550,000. ExxonMobil has also donated between $5,000 and $10,000 between 1994 and 2002.

Once, just once, I'd like to see the Nobel Peace Prize go to someone that actually MADE and enforced a lasting peace in a war-torn part of the world, rather than sitting around in a room nattering about it.
