Vaccinations - Pros and Cons ?
We are expecting our first child in March. I have been doing some reading on Vaccinations and am not convinced that they are the best solution for a healthy child.
It seems that the Health Care system is set up to give a lot of injections to a child at 2-4-6 months and some of the side effects can be detrimental (Autism, chronic colds, Allergies etc.). Most people elect to have all of the vaccination shots as they are required for public school and it is often thought they are necessary for health reasons (not proven)? Being born outside of the U.S. I had very few vaccinations and thus caught Measles, Chicken Pox, and Whooping cough before I was 4 years old, and didn't suffer any and probably have a better immune system because of getting the diseases. We could get a 'religious expemption' so as to get into School as long as we decide to give zero vaccinations, but I'm not sure if this is a good idea. At this point we are still gathering information and are meeting with a potential pediatrician next week and will see what their reccomendation is, I think at lease being able to choose which vaccinations are most important and waiting till the child has developed an immune system on their own is a prudent decision... Any opinions out there? Thanks for your responses either way.

Various wackos have attributed autism, chronic colds, allergies etc... to everything from artificial sweeteners, sugar, salt, processed foods, dirty air, hotdogs, meat, dirty colon, stress, laundry detergent, etc... Get your kids immunized, it's safer!!!

you are wise to ask this question. international travel accentuates the need. this is a personal decision, but internetsearch the ramifications and dangers of immunizations. some peeps are more at risk. i had no choice(personally) in mine, but a lot of friends are opting out.
also study up on "immune system" that which "does not kill us" makes us stronger"

I appreciate all of the comments. There has been a lot of good research attributing various diseases from vaccinations. The thimerosal (mercury) in old vaccinations (now being phased out) is certainly partly to blame for the increase in autism. My sister works with Autistic kids and has done a lot of research into the matter. Also the US gov't has a 1/2 billion dollar fund for the victims of side effects from vaccinations. There ARE definently dangers to the Vaccinations BUT some of the diseases that the vaccinations are supposed to prevent are also dangerous, so it seems like a trade-off.
Certainly the vaccinations since they are sponsored and promoted by governmental bodies are HUGE money makers for the drug manufacturers.
