Unhappy What's with my knee?

Is my knee about to give out? For the last couple of weeks or so my knee seems to be on the way to giving in now and again. I get this slight pain (more at sensation) like my knee is about to not stop the forward motion as the upper and lower leg straighten together. The sensation is at the top and behind of the knee cap. It happens with little stresses like shifting form one leg to the other, or walking etc. It happens only occasionally. Has anyone ever had this happen as a pre-cursor to a knee injury?

Sounds like an ACL problem. Best to see a specialist! Had this happen many years ago. Dr. said he could perform surgery or I could wear a knee brace for sports. Decided on the latter and have no need for the brace now. Muscles strengthened to the point brace wasn't needed. But get checked!

Some folks can tear an ACL and not even know it...if your legs muscles are strong enough. I haven't had an ACL in my left knee for over 20 years and have similar symptoms that you describe. Even with a custom fitted knee brace, my knee still has 'play' and will shift a bit. If by Doc, you mean an orthopedic specialist, you're doing the right thing...good luck!

PS: An arthroscopy (if required) is a very minor procedure for most people.

Me to Keith - no ACL here = right leg - That's what I get for playing basketball against a dude named "cookie" stern... Mine does the same thing.
