Any SoCal'ers Old Enough to Remember Shrimpenstein?
Am I the only guy here old enough to remember this guy.
For those that don't know, he was the cheesy, midget Frankenstein co- host of an afternoon cartoons in the 60's. He was a smartass and made a lot of questionable double entendre comments that kids didn't catch but their parents did. Of course that's what ultimately killed him off like Soupy Sales. ![]() ![]() Little known fact is that one of the creators, Gene Moss was also one of the writers of Roger Ramjet and Jim Thurman - the other creator was acontributor to Sesame Street. Gene Moss' son, Chuck Moshants was the long time newsman and commentator with the Mark and Brian radio show.

That's before my time. Of course, I didn't start watching TV until almost a decade later than you.

Oh man, I guess I'm the "Ancient Mariner" around here, huh?
I looked it up and I think it was only on the air for 2 or 3 years.... like '65 to '67 or '68. Funny, when I type that out I realize how friggin long ago that was! I started high school in the Fall of '68. Bobby Kennedy had JUST been killed, so had MLK. But Vietnam was raging with no end in sight; body counts on TV every night. I just don't feel that old at 52 and yet.... so many things have changed since then. Oh well, "Shrimpie" was hilarious...although I suspect if I could get copies of the tapes I'd probably not think so anymore. Now, if anyone remembers the "Winchell-Mahoney Hour" with Paul Winchel and his dummies, Jerry Mahoney and Knucklehead Smiff but.........nah, that was even a couple of years earlier than Shrimpenstein!

I remember all that old local stuff. Bozo the Clown, Engineer Bill with "red light/green light" for drinking your milk, Sherriff John, and Tom Hatten of course. I think I'll start an old commercials thread. We had so many cheesy local commercials in L.A. It had to have been the same for kids in other parts of the country, didn't it? Cal Worthington, Felix Chevrolet, A Dee Doo! etc. etc When I got older, was about the time that Elvira came about introducing the old horror films. I couldn't take my eyes off her chest. Holy Moly, I was at JUST the right age to appreciate that..uh...er...."them" ![]()

Hey, Shrimpenstein was after my time, but I did watch Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent, along with Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Sky King, The Little Rascals, etc., etc.

Alright Marv! Someone OLDER than I am? Shrimpenstein was AFTER your time?
I remember the same shows you list here (well, except Gene Autry) but they were older reruns by the time I saw them. Check out the thread I just started on old commercials. I think it'll be interesting.

![]() ![]() As for the "Pussy Cow, Pussy Cow, Pussy Cow" misunderstanding...do you remember the recent commercial (I can't remember for what?) but a guy tells his slacker fellow employee that, "No, we do NOT get 'French' benefits." I about blew Coke out my nose when I first heard that one. Oh and the current cell phone commercial where they are singing along to "Rock the Casbah" and they think it is....Stuff the Catbox or some such. My girlfriend and I laughed a lot at that one.
