And here I thought you were going to talk about "Click and Clack" on PBS on Sat(urday). On the "sirius" side, a recent issue of Consumer Reports had a good article on the two systems. Might be a good start.

Both offer a few free days to give them a listen online. Maybe you could sign up and see for yourself?

I personally like Sirius and know a few guys that have switched from XM to sirius because of its better station layout.

I never liked the Fred Ethel and Lucy way they did things at XM and found Sirius to have a lot of really good programming.

Plus now I am hearing XM is playing a commercial here and there so they are no longer 100% commercial free.

My $0.02

If you are into sports, Sirius has NFL while XM has MLB.

I have had both and find the music programming very similar.

Regarding commercials on XM...there are 4 or 5 stations provided by Clear Channel Media (mostly popular music) that have commercials. The rest do not. Clear Channel won a court case to be able to play commercials (they are an equity partner so XM can't just dump them).

I was a dual subscriber until recently, now I'm 100% on Sirius thanks to the purchase of my wife's new A4. XM had some deeper playlists on a few channels, but it was nothing to write home about. The DJ's on sirius are more of your celeb types, like ex MTV VJ's from years past, versus a lesser DJ situation on XM, so if you're bothered by DJ banter, then XM would be a better choice.

I used to listen to XM for the music, and Sirius for Stern, and I would tell myself that the XM sound quality was better, but it was really just that I had an older Sirius tuner. Now I can't tell them apart, and like I said I just went Sirius in the end (Audi is exclusive to Sirius now.) I would like to have MLB, but I never listed enough to make it a deal breaker.

Depends on the type of talk you're interested in, both have Fox, Sirius has NPR, if I recall XM had Coast to Coast AM if you're into that sorta thing. Sirius has Stern of course, XM has O&A, both have Air America. By count sirius has a few more, but not many.

I have only experience with Sirius, as we had it on the rental car when my dad and I drove to Kentucky for the Breeders Cup horse races. I got hooked on it, and would recommend it, only out of experience. I'm sure XM is just as good but I personally prefer Sirius. Plus I've read they had English Premier League soccer, altho I didn't find it the last time we had it, so I'm not sure if it's still available. As a hardcore English soccer fan, I'd buy it on that fact alone.

Does anyone know if Sirius does in fact have a Premier League soccer channel?

I have XM - love it. Only tried Sirius with rental cars - hated it.

I used to say the same thing, but in the last two years Sirius has made some big and positive changes, and XM has made some pretty poor changes (the clear channel deal for openers). Every month the gap narrows between the two, and it's for a good reason. You might be surprised how the programming on Sirius has evolved, I sure was. Even after XM offered me three free months and the remaining year at half off I still left, the value had disappeared for me.

I have XM in all three cars, but I recommend Sirius because of the commercials in some of the XM music channels.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.

talk channels? good gawd...why not just put your head in a blender before you get in the car.

Was happy enough with Sirius to pay my own money for a year subscription. Don't listen to any talk or sports though. Some great music channels, lots of diversity. And zero commercials.

I like to laugh, if putting your head in a blender makes you laugh go for it.

I prefer to find silly talk shows that are not all political and sirius (sic). Raw dog has the same affect.
