Its plastic! Volvo dropped this item on the later models because of the problems is causes when clogged!

I can't even think of where this would go in a car.

The only place there would be a flame would be in the cylinders, and I can't see a piece of plastic standing up to that environment.

It sits between the airbox and is in the crankcase vent tube.

EXACTLY! Mine got carboned up and blew out the cam seals! That little piece of plastic is now in the trash!
