NY Pelicans - Anyone have bed for 3 nights?

Fellow Pelicans

My little brother is travelling the globe on his own and heading to NY in Feb/March. Off my own back I thought I might enquire if anyone is prepared to offer a bed for maybe 3 nights to a 32 year old professional (dunno what he really does - something about psychology and open cut mining). You'd be aiding him in his quest to see the world on the Australian Half Dollar It seems that NY is one place it helps to have friends when you need a bed!

I'm biased, but he is a good bloke - he is non-denominational, likes a beer and can tell good stories in an Australian accent

Anyway, in return there is a standing offer for anyone who might like to visit Oz one day to camp at our place...

No offence taken if it's too big an ask

What are the exact dates? Have vaca plans so need to know.

If he can deal with 4 cats, a 6.5 and 3.5 year old and does not mind an air mattress in the kids playroom I'll put him up.

I'm on Long Island, it's a quick train ride into Manhattan from here.

I have a friend in Manhattan who might pony up some floor space as well.

Scott

If he is/wants to head to Florida, Boca Raton just North of Miami, my mum will put him up as well.

Hell, 3 nights is easier than when I had Phil the sheep farmer from NZ move in for 6 months.

you might inquire at the yamaha 650 society website. seems some bloke from down under who rebuilds yamaha 650s in austrailia showed up here in the states a while back and traveled to some large 650 gatherings on the coast and midwest.

Hey thanks guys.

Scott, I'll talk to him tonight for exact dates and let you know. He rang me today to ask if I knew anyone over there. "Sure" I said, "I talk to heaps of mates over there, let me send some feelers out"

TSNAP - Yep, I turned up in SoCal a couple of years ago and was looked after superbly by Pelicans I met over there. I'm always ready to return the favour.

Bob and Mark: You guys are on my radar to bother when I visit next

John,

I will be out of the country for much of Feb. but if he makes it to Phoenix Arizona (thats out West, around the Grand Canyon) he can stay at my house.

Have a friend who watches over the house for me but its available at times if needed.

Thanks a lot Joe, I'll let him know. I'm not 100% what his plans are - It's the age old story, he has parted ways with a long time girlfriend so he has taken 6 months off work and thought he's take the time to see the world I do know NY has been his top priority since 9/11, and it's an inspirational place after what it endured, so I reckon it'll be good for him.

And I do know he has a side trip arranged to Brazil for Carnivale. Man he's living my dream!

Fact is, I want visit all you guys before my brother does!

John,

If he is going to Carnival in Rio, then I have a some antibotics for "the drip" as you call it!

Hope he does not need it but from what I hear its a free for all down there and a good time had by all. Had an old friend of mine go there for 10 years and everytime he returned he was just "not the same for weeks" afterwards. Something about the smile on his face that would not stop...

If he winds up in upstate NY, I've got him covered. Just PM.

Syracuse is about the exact center of the state.

... and I've got a snow shovel, so I'll really put him to work.

NY state is kinda big. Center of the state still puts him hours away from a lot of stuff.

Not like you can do a day trip into Manhattan.

Don't get me wrong, I like Syracuse, many fond memories of frat house parties.

Is Maggies still around?

No doubt it's a distance, but it's closer than, say, Seattle.

Maggies is gone. When were you up here? I tended bar and bounced at Sutter's, Chuck's and Bragg's, and occasionally at 44's.

Not as many bars on the Hill as there used to be. Which is fine b/c I'm not on the Hill so much any more.
