where should I go for my next trip?

here is my criteria:
i am going to go SOLO, i need it to be cost effective, it doesnt need to be real sophiticated (i can crap in a squat toilet). friendly (going solo, dont want to stay solo), no terrorist.

i am going to turkey, and italy in a few weeks. this is with my family. the planning and (heated) discussions, has left me thinking of my next trip...to unwind.

costa rica? brazil?

Costa Rica is nice, Belieze as well. South Island of New Zealand is heaven on Earth... Might try that.

South Island of NZ, just came back. No real action, its a very empty place, but stunning.

Rent a car and do the US... but no more than 5 miles at a time on an interstate - use US highways, state/county roads, etc.

If you have not travelled extensively in the States, Vash, this is an excellent idea.:)

No kidding. The variation in culture, topography and climate is really an amazing thing.

If you like hiking, do the Inca trail from Cuzco to Macchu Picchu. Takes 4 days and is exhausting but the scenery is spectacular. You need to go with a tour company because access to the trail is limited. The company provides porters who carry everything, set up tents, cook, etc. Peru is only about a 6 hour direct flight from LA.
The Greek islands are also beautiful. We went hiking on Tinos, Mykonos and Santorini last year. Near to our hotel in Mykonos there was a bar called "The Ramrod," not that there is anything wrong with it ...
This summer we are going to hike in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. Always wanted to see Dracula's castles.

If you really are worried about terrorists, there have been recent attacks on Turkish tourist areas by Kurdish separatists ... but you are probably still safer there than in LA.

Going solo? Go where you can get laid for cheap safely. What's the point of going solo if you aren't going to get any?
