Thinking about a Ovation Celebrity like this. Looking in the $300 range also... Any ideas?

I guess we all have our personal favorites. If you are going to play it 'plugged in', the Ovation will do well, all other things being OK.
I would look for an older Yamaha (70s) or an 80s Tak, if you are playing accoustic. 12 years ao, I got lucky enough to get my hands on a Yamaha FG 580. It needed TLC, but has turned into a keeper. Then again, depending on the care the instrument has had, the sound and playability is going to be all over the place. Good luck Les
