Italy orders CIA kidnapping trial

Italy orders CIA kidnapping trial
An Italian judge has ordered 26 US citizens - most of them CIA agents - to stand trial over the kidnap of an Egyptian cleric in Milan in 2003.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6368269.stm

Quote:
Osama Mustafa Hassan was allegedly seized by the CIA and flown to Egypt, where he says he was tortured.

Seven Italians were also indicted, including Italy's ex-military intelligence chief, Nicolo Pollari.

The case would be the first criminal trial over the secret US practice known as "extraordinary rendition".

During rendition, people suspected of involvement in terror activities are taken from one country and flown to another, where many claim they are tortured.
Valerie Plame was an undercover operations officer and there is a big to-do about her "outing" by the bush administration. I just wonder how many of those 26 CIA people in Italy were undercover?

Looks like the European Parliament was truly intent on hearing all the facts and getting to the truth of this case...

The other side of the story is that the Italian government doesn't even want the trial, they have filed suits against the prosecutors for revealing state secrets.

Publicity stunt again...next?

I just read this part more carefully.

Are you seriously equating Valerie Plame to a field operations agent in Italy?????

ROFL.

An outed agent is an outed agent. The degree or depth of undercover should be irrelevant. Pregnant is pregnant. There is no such thing as "more pregnant" or "less pregnant".

No, they're seeking justice against the largest, most unlawful government on the planet, the US government.

from article:

This week, the Swiss government approved prosecutors’ plans to investigate the flight that allegedly took Nasr over Swiss airspace from Italy to Germany.

A Munich prosecutor recently issued arrest warrants for 13 people in another alleged CIA-orchestrated kidnapping, that of a German citizen who says he was seized in December 2003 at the Serbian-Macedonia border and flown to Afghanistan.
We are going to need a lot more NEW agents stationed in Europe as I assume most of the accused are already back here sitting behind desks.

Slopat,

Can several of us get together and finance your one way (no return) move to Italy? Or any country outside the US for that matter?

You clearly are not happy here, so why stay? As well why keep taking that "dirty" retirement money from the US Army every month. You hate them and the Govt so much that it would be much better for everyone involved if you just left and set up a new life, hopefully in a communist country far, far away...

Let us know when we can start helping you pack...

Joe
