I could look for 20 years and never find a 73 911e in lilac purple with 15" BBS wheels. But I guess let the search begin.

And I do mean that I do want 15" BBS wheels on my 73. Crazy as that may sound.

Right now what I'd honestly like to do is persuade someone to buy the car for cheap, someone that has more time and money and knowledge than I do, and then they could fix it up, and I'd buy it back from them in 2 years when I'm finished with college. Hell, I'd even pay $24k for it if it was fixed up...and I'm dead serious about that.

Having said that, when else am I going to get the opportunity to work on and learn about a project car than in college? When I graduate, I'll have to get a job that may take up all my time and then I won't have spring break or summer breaks anymore.

I have wanted a project car that I could be proud of, to know that I helped bring it back from a state of despair...

I guess I'll have to be content to admire the car from a distance, maybe sit in it a few more times, possibly go for another ride in it, and leave it at that.

I may not buy it, but I'll never forget it. Which makes me infinately sad.

Edited to add: with any luck maybe the car will still be for sale in 2-3 years and then I can just buy it then. Altho you guys may still berate me for doing that then. But at least I should have a lot more knowledge about what I'm getting into (and maybe because I've graduated, my parents will be willing to kick in a little money as a graduation present...who knows? ;))

A friend of mine told me last night that they stopped making 15" BBS gold wheels, and that they're quite hard to find now, and they go for anything from $500 to $1200. :(

Don't get me wrong--I love Fuchs. In fact, I'd rather have Fuchs than any other wheel. I just like the way the gold BBS look on this particular car. I'd never dream of putting them on the SC...

Its a 1973 911S that was repainted Aubergine as some owner thought that the Lilca was to much. Its currently going back to its orginal color. :eek:

So it would still be a bad idea to get the car and sell the turbo, get the motor back to the condition it was previously in, and then let the car sit in my garage for 2 years till I graduate and can have it repainted (properly this time)? Aww dammit! I'm clutching at straws now...

I read your initial post and up to 911Teo's opinion of the car and my advise is TURN AND RUN. You will easily spend another 12K on that car trying to make it right and porbably more when things start falling apart from the turbo swap.

Not a good car to buy unless you can pass this test:

Take a $100 bill and burn it.

a. it did not bother you - Buy the car

b. ouch! I needed that $100 - Dont buy the car.

First of all I'd never pay $12k for this car. No way, not with all the solid, sound advice offered here.

As for the $100 bill test, the sad thing is that I'd do that for this car. I'd sacrifice a perfectly good $100 for the car. I'd be willing to spend the majority of my money just getting the motor fixed and removing the turbo.
