Thanks Ryan.
I wish I could help you with an agent. I don't have one myself, because I got in touch with my publisher directly a couple of years ago. I imagine that at some point I'll have to get an agent - although I thought I would try this first without the middle man. 140,000 words you cranked out eh? That's very respectable. Of course if "all that is seen and unseen" is what your book is about, you will have had lots to write about! ;-) |
I've finished a non-fiction book that I'd like to publish, but every publisher and agent sees no market for it. Yet, everyone I tell about it thinks it's a great idea, and everyone who's read the manuscript thought it was great. It's about the oldest operating saloon, in each of the 50 states. I drove to all of them (except HI, of course) in a 1985 Westfalia over two summers. Great stories, lots of American history, and more Jessie James stories you can shake a stick at. There's a lot about my travels, as well, since that was a big part of the story.
I can accept that publishers say there's no market for it, but when I walk into a book store and see a book about painting cat's faces, I want to scream. I also have a movie script out, and I'm working on a novel. I get little chance to write now, what with 2 young kids, and my day job. And we just picked up an 8-week old puppy on Monday! So, congrats, Dottore!!! |
