bug revisted

So following up on the current bug that is going around. Here's an indication of how bad/prevalent it is. I talked with my writer today and he said he had it for about 2 weeks and that he ended up on antibiotics for the secondary infection. I'm already blowing dark snot so I called my doc up to make an appointment for tomorrow. Never even got that far, nurse asked my symptoms and said, "we'll call in a prescription for you."

Fun. Plus I've got a swollen lymph node and a funny skin blotch. Good times...

Yikes.

On my end, the flu-thing has been working its way through the family - so far only my wife has been unscathed. Ruined a week on the Oregon Coast for the wife and kids.

well I'm now on omnicef (cefdinir) and phenavent (guaifenesin with phenylephrine). We'll see how long it takes to get knocked down. I'm starting pretty early into it...

god bless chemistry.

I've got the latest iteration of the flu and it's kicking my rear end. I'm taking decongestants and drinking lots of green tea and trying to get some rest. I hope this is the last one of the "flu season"!

I'll see your '67 and raise you a '55 that came off the transport to load my car. It had hawaii plates and was going to the Dallas area I believe.

Do not take this flu season lightly. Last week my next door neighbor died from complications of the flu. She was 44 years old and in magnificent health. She was a ballerina and very fit. She had a husband and two young daughters. She was admitted to the hospital and died 12 hours later. She developed an aggressive group-B Strep pneumonia secondary infection.

I'm glad you got on the Omnicef, Todd. It could have saved my neighbors life.

Wow. I had a bad bout of the flu in late December, with a fever for four or five days and lots (and lots) of time seated on the bowl.

A few weeks later, after I was better, I developed all sorts of weird symptoms. I had achy joints (knees, hands, etc.), one swollen gland, a "lacy" rash that lasted two days (didn't itch or hurt, just looked odd), and then an infection in one sinus gland.

My doc called in prescription for me, which finally seems to knock this thing out of my system.

the skin blotch/rash (looks like a burn actually but doesn't really hurt) kinda weirds me out, but I figure when the body is under attack the lymph nodes and surrounding area can have funny stuff happen.

I normally eschew antibiotics but once the phlegm turns color I'm in to see the doc. I've heard too many stories of nasty bacterial strains that once they get a foothold, don't like to let go.
