I sure did. This story rocks on so many different levels:
![]() http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-mug23feb23,1,6724039.story U.S. tourists kill mugger, Costa Rica says From Times Wire Services February 23, 2007 SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA — A tour group of U.S. senior citizens killed a Costa Rican mugger by breaking his neck after he pulled a gun, a local police official said Thursday. The cruise ship passengers told police they jumped on Wagner Segura, 20, to defend themselves when he pointed a .38-caliber revolver at them Wednesday near the Caribbean port of Limon, regional police director Luis Hernandez said. One of the dozen tourists, a retired Marine about 70 years old, reportedly put Segura in a headlock. "He was probably the one who broke [Segura's] neck," Hernandez said. "His neck was completely snapped." The cause of death was not clear. A statement from Carnival Cruise Lines said the assailant had apparently died of asphyxiation, and some reports identified the broken bone as the clavicle, not the neck. No charges will be filed against the tourists because police viewed the incident as an act of self-defense.

Saw this story earlier today, Denis. Thanks for posting it!
I knew an older retired Marine back in the 80's who lived in Santa Ana. He was one of the Marines who landed on Guadalcanal, back in WWII. He was one tough SOB!!! In his 70's I was helping him move some furniture for his daughter (a friend of my wife's at the time). This guy was strong as a bull, stubborn as a mule and could work from sun up to sundown, and it wouldn't phase him. I couldn't imagine getting into a scrap with him. He would have torn me in half! ![]() I have no doubt it was the retired Marine in this story that opened up the can of whoopass! ![]() Randy

Very satisfactory. A primary aggressor has per definition lost his rights in my book. IMO legislation in Sweden is way to slack in this respect. Repeated offenders using physical violence on victims should be put to rest. For good.
Does this make me a Republican?

I read the story to my wife. She said, "Are you sure it wasn't your dad?"
Here's my 82 year old Marine. Tough as nails and still fearless.

My father was in Costa Rica last month. When I read the article, I thought he was probably the guy.
Korea, Vietnam...77 years old and he still would not have called and told me if he WAS the guy. They are what they are.
