Flying to SoCal to go to Dodger Stadium?
 

So, path of least resistance (relatively speaking)? Should we (my wife and I) fly to LAX? John Wayne? Other? I'll be renting a car at the airport and driving to the stadium. What type of drive time should I expect on a Saturday afternoon. Also, we may crash in Irvine or Redondo Beach before flying out the next day, but if that proves prohibitive, we'll likely need lodging somewhere between the chosen airport and stadium, preferably closer to the latter. Any suggestions? Thanks! :D

Police concert? If you crash in Irvine/RB, JW might be the airport to goto.

Yep, The Police. :D We're leaning on getting a room for the night, so assuming that, what airport is best?

LAX is closer and there are plenty of hotels at the airport. JW is probably better if you want to stay in Irvine/RB.

Burbank is another option and I think even closer to the stadium than LAX. John Wayne is far and traffically undesirable.

If you fly to Burbank, please let us know your arrival time, carrier, flight#, and what you will be wearing.

Looks like Burbank Airport is 5 miles from the stadium, correct?

It says 22 minutes, but allow for the ridiculous L.A. traffic.

Avoid LAX at all costs. That airport is an overpriced *****hole. I'll literally pay up to $100 more to fly out of John Wayne or Long Beach rather than deal with the traffic and other B.S. getting into/out of LAX. It's THAT bad.

I flew into LAX last week for business in Moorpark, in fact I fly into LA just about about every week. Do yourself a HUGE favor and fly into Burbank. LAX to Mulholland via the 405 was 90 min's on Thursday, I'm sure the rain had something to do with it, but it's almost always bad. Burbank is smaller, easier to get to, the rental car counters are walk up versus shuttle bus. If it were not for my stupid electronic travel system I would always fly to Burbank or Ontario, but they have this lowest fee crap.

I have to disagree on one point. LAX is a great airport depending on what you're doing. I do one-day trips to northern CA and have it totally wired. Park One is easy to get to via surface streets, and you can walk to terminal 1 and Southwest. Totally painless. If you know the right entrance/exits, LAX is incredibly quick. The bad part is if you have to get on the 405. The airport itself is pretty easy to deal with.

But for getting to Dodger Stadium? Burbank is the way to go.

Thanks for the input. Another question. We're only staying overnight, and no 5-star accomodations needed. However, anyone see any problem with us getting a room in a budget place near Dodger Stadium? Or are we better off just staying closer to the Burbank airport?

For my wife, appearance of the area will definitely impact her comfort level. A place could be perfectly fine, but I guess you tend to feel less secure when you're unfamiliar with an area that might appear less than "inviting", for lack of a better term.

don't stay near the stadium. Either head up to Pasadena, or just something around the Burbank airport.

Not sure about you and your wife's accommodation threshold, but a guy I know owns the Best Western in Chinatown; about 10 min. from the stadium. If you like Chinese cuisine, that's one option. I've never stayed there, but tell him I sent you. The downtown hotels are fairly pricey. Otherwise, follow Todd's (Nostatic) suggestion about Pasadena (1/2 hr. drive north). Lot's of places there.

Hotels around the Burbank airport are decent but typical of airport hotels - isolated with nothing around except sounds of jet engines overhead.
