What's your perfect road trip food?

You're packed and the car is full of fuel. Its not about the journey...you've got a destination 950 miles away. No time to make unnecessary stops...you've got to make some serious time at warp speed where possible. So its a pre-dawn departure and hammer down on the interstate, with one planned stop to refuel so you will arrive at a reasonable early evening hour.

So what is the perfect road trip food to provide sustenance?

For me, its....................... bottled water and a box of FIG NEWTONS

two bags of Grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half-full of cocaine and a whole galaxy of multicolored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers.... also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls...

anything worth doing, is worth doing right

Big bag of Sunflower Seeds ("Polly Seeds" as my girlfriend says ) A Tupperware container of newly made, gooey brownies - no, not the funny kind. A few bottles of water and a cooler of soft drinks. Oh and don't forget to stop off at In 'n Out Burgers! GOTTA have a full compliment of salt, sugar, and empty calories. How else will you sleep like the dead for hours from a sugar coma when you get to your destination?

950 miles @ warp speed and only one pit stop to refuel???
did you like put a 60 gallon tank in that car or what?

if i do warp speed in mine, i get like 300 km from a tank, and it's a 60 Liter tank, dunno the exact numbers in yer odd miles/gallons thing, but i'm sure i'de need more then 1 refueling stop if i'm doing Warp 9

no amount of sunshine acid will change that.

I think mine has an 80 litre tank..about 22 gallons I suppose. But I swear I've crammed more than 22 gallons when I rolled into a station on fumes. On a run to south florida running between 80-90 with occasional shots over the ton, I averaged around 23 if I'm not mistaken....

WHATEVER....allow me a little poetic license

So what do you Dutchmen prefer to keep the energy levels up on a road trip?

I actually do not bring much. I will bring a bottle of water or Gatorade. This way, I make the 4.5-5 hr. road trip to Mammoth without stopping at all. Even in my college days, I did 16 hours without many stops, I just eat/drink the bare minimum during the drive.

I made a trip from just north of Miami to Jackson, MS back in December. Flew down to pick up a sweet little 318ti for my step daughter. Requied 3 fuel stops because it only has a 13-14 gallon tank. Made it in 13.25 hrs. 952 miles. Suprisingly the little car did not wear me out as I had expected.

But I digress....why fig newtons?

They're packaged in a tray that contains the few crumbs they generate

Low fat

Real fruit

Won't get lost in the upholstery like nuts, sf seeds, raisins, trail mix

They don't have peels or cores to dispose of

No wrappers to dipose of (except the main container)

They already taste stale so you won;t notice if they really are

A whole box has about 1500 calories

If you drop one it won't stain your clothes or carpet and it wom't roll under the seats like grapes

The box will sit on the dash

They don't melt

They won't send your digestive track into fits

I like 'em

I dunno....seems they were designed for a road trip

I'll think of some more
