Any Kayakers Here?

On the heals of the "any snowboarders here?" thread.

I have been WW kayaking for a few years now anyone else out there?

Started with fiberglass boats in the early 70's...still paddle twice a year in an old Perception that was the deal in 1991! I spend more time with it in the surf that on on rivers.

My Dad was a big, "get out there" kind of guy. I spent a lot of time outdoors as a kid.

Only in my pond now, but I did a small amount of it in the early 90's on mostly small local rivers with pretty small sets of rapids. I would like to get back into it someday.

(I wouldnt be caught dead on a snowboard however....skiing only for me)

Back in the day yeah I was a member of the NY Kayak and Canoe Club. Gotta a 13 foot fiberglass Tresca sitting out back now. My shoulders aren't up to it anymore. I couldn't possibly do a recovery now with my shoulders as is.

My son and I have rented and done this on the SF Bay a few times:

I've wanted to buy, but I've been a puss about transporting a hardshell, so I've been posing with an inflatable that I bought last year, albeit a higher end one (Advanced Elements). It's actually a hybrid folding-frame, inflatable. Anyway, it's a lotta fun being out on the water.

Getting started. You should learn more about the Tsunami Rangers. Rivers aren't the only whitewater.

I forget which storm it was, as it was a few years back, but we got the tail end of some pretty nasty Huricane weather. The resulting waves in lake Ontario were great for surfing and wave wheels.

I've got a SOT Frenzy for the past 8 years. It's a blast for putting around on out the ocean and riding waves on a good day.

Do you have any pics?

The whole C-1 canoeing culture may not be known to the West Coast guys...the first time I saw C-1 was after I moved to the East Coast.
Amazing stuff with the position, single paddle, etc.

None on the computer, but I may be able to scan some. I graduated to the C-1 after spending a lot of time in an older model Dagger without decks and with float bags in both ends. My local haunt was the Deerfield river in Western MA, but I also ran many others... even did the Dead River once.

Please try and find/scan some...the first time I saw a C-1, I think it was on the New River in very average conditions.

I thought someone had broken their paddle.

The dual, C-2 guys need to be seen to believed.
