cell phone tricks

Not sure if this is still current or if it's valid all over the world but it's worth having a read:

This is really interesting and valuable information -

THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELLPHONE COULD DO
There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.
Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for
survival. Check out the things that you can do with it: -
*EMERGENCY*
*I*
* The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112 .* If you find
yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an
emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to
establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112
can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. **Try it out.**
*II*
* Subject: Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote keys?*
This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:
If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call
someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone.
Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person
at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on
their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your
keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away,
and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you
can unlock the doors (or the trunk).
*III*
Subject: Hidden Battery power
Imagine your cell battery is very low, you are expecting an important call
and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve
battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with
this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This
reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.
AND
*IV*
How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?
To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:
* # 0 6 #
A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your
handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get
stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They
will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the
SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.
You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.
If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.
Please spread this useful information around

And I hope NO ONE even tries the car unlocking "trick". The only trick to that is that they get someone gullible to try something that can't work.

actually, they had this on 60 minutes not long ago. It does indeed work on some lower line older cars.

+1000 Remote keyless entry does not work on audio. The only potential for this to work would be with ~315 (or 434)Mhz cordless home phone, not cell phones. Even then I don't think the correct signal would be sent over the RF link of the phone so I ain't buying a 60 minutes claim.

After you jam up the world emergency call number, 112, with
the 'try it out calls'...

then dial 113 which is the hotline directly to Isabo's cell phone.
She will be wearing her cat-mask and waiting for your call
ready to spring into action.

Here's a neat cell phone trick --

When driving a car, put the freakin' cell phone down and pay attention to your driving.

Try it.

Here's another trick -

If you have a Blu-tooth device, if you're not using it, take the lousy earpiece out of your ear! We all know that you're a very important person that needs to be in constant direct communication with the Preisdent of the United States. But in the off-chance that he's not available, and you're not on the phone, put the darn thing in your pocket!

Try it!

And since when did ear pieces become accessory items? I don't need no stinkin' rhinestones on my bluetooth, nor do I need a glittering Playboy bunny logo on my cell phone.

And don't even get me started on text messging...

I think I'd better go for a walk now.
-Z-man.

If you're stupid enough to lock your remote key fob into your car, you're stupid enough to fall for that trick as well. Maybe you should also try playing the sounds of whales and dolphins as well -- I heard the frequencies they use are the same as the ones that control our GPS satellites up in the sky...

-Z-man, yeah, I definately need to go for a walk...

Here's a new cell phone trick:

From an email from my wife. Now, I don't take her as gullible and she does work with Homeland Security regularly, but nevertheless, take it on the surface...

"Cell phone gun

Read this and then watch the video clip!
Most see airport security as a pain. Some deal better than others. Some feel violated, when you watch this movie, you'll understand why they want your cell phone through the x-ray machine.
If you get asked to test your cell phone at the airport, this is the reason. Because cell phone guns have arrived. They are real. The attached video clip shows how cell phone guns operate. These phones have not been found in the U.S. yet, but they are in use overseas.
Beneath the digital phone face is a 22 caliber handgun capable of firing four rounds in rapid succession using the standard telephone keypad.
European law enforcement officials are stunned by the discovery of these deadly decoys. They say phone guns are changing the rules of engagement in Europe. Only when you have one in your hand do you realize that they are heavier than a regular cell phone. Be patient if security asks to look at your cell phone or turn it on to show that it works. They have a good reason! "

Z-man, too freakin' funny!!!

Edit: Here's a link to a vid of the gun. Sorry, I don't know how to put link the to .mpg file here directly.
http://cellular.co.za/phones/gunphone/gun-phone.htm
It seems like a safe, link, I don't know. Penicillan OK's it. Apparently this was first posted in 2001. Maybe "Q" was involved.

My world would be a far happier place if people would put down their phones. Way beyond a pet peeve to me.
