WW II trench art

Picked this up at an estate sale Saturday always liked trench art. Didn't photograph well, but both sides are done along with some added art--palm trees, kangaroo--New Guinea 43-44 345th bomber group "treetop terrors".

Cool score. Saw a bit on National Geographic about this once. Ingenious use of "whatever was available," real McGyver stuff.

Wonder what happened to the "artist."

Very Nice....at one time that was someone's prized possession.
I'd do a little research on line and see if there is an association affiliation...show it there.
You may be surprised by the responses.

They probably flew a variant of the B25 Mitchell low altitude attack bomber as it has a 75mm. nose cannon for strafing missions (shipping mostly).

How is it made? It looks like the letters and the design are raised?
