Ouch!!! China went down 8% yesterday/today...

Edit: If you have the stomach and the cash, today might be a good time to pick up a "bargain".

that's what happens when you have ~100 managers controlling the market. any news story is a catalyst for a market move.

the working men/women with 401Ks don't have influence in daily swings. they are all at work during the day..

Just this weekend my wife and I were looking at out accounts and I was thinking we probably should take some profits. Too late. Ouch.

Looks like down 200+ to me.

Looks like a cooling of China's economy is driving this.

Could we have another "Asian Financial Crisis"?

Last time that happened, it led to capital flooding the U.S. right as the Internet was taking off. Remember the "Dot Com Boom"? Cheap capital looking for anything to invest in...

I'm with you. I dont have a single dollar in the stock market. All the risk with no control

I can multiply my money elsewhere, thank you very much!

Eh...it's all in my 401k. I'm not retiring for another 30 years, so I can tolerate a few bumps in the road...

I started my 410k at the absolute height of the Dot Com boom. For my first two years out of college, the balance of my 401k was less than the sum of my yearly contributions. The Dow went from around 11,000 to 9,000 during that period. Around 12,000 still has me in the black...

I lost about $5000 today. So what? Its all paper. As long as it has recovered by 2030, I'm good.

Free markets are a double-edged sword. If China can get to us through them, we can get to them.

Run with the herd of Lemmings that U are....

Today was a GOOD DAY..the market has not corrected since May, and was OVERDUE...Casino Bosses get worried when they get too far ahead, they know that sooner or later they are in for a big hit...

The market needs some voliatility...Mother in Tucson has been putting cash on the sidelines recently, she will be putting it back to work shortly..and within a short time the Market will recover and go to new highs.

This is the needed pause that refreshes...also where does one think all that money is going to go to if the Chinese Market is out of flavor......

I felt like the market was at an artificial high as well. The market is nowhere for speculators. Long term it's just fine. This too shall pass.

Bad timing for me. The stock I need to sell has been long term and was finally taking off. I'm out a few grand today and it hurts.
