The Future of Leadership and Politics.

Leadership may be difficult to define but easy to recognize. What is obvious is that our country has a lack of leadership at the high federal government level. The people who ascend to power do so through backroom deals and heavy funding. Charisma is often mistaken for talent. Marketing spin is often mistaken for political insight. The majority believe that no candidate is a standout. They recognize their political choice as the lesser of many evils. Would it be any surprise if less than forty percent of the voting populace actually turned out? It takes millions to be in contention.

Having the money it takes to make it to the White House will take compromise and sweetheart deals. Politics is the science of pushing people around, using the winds of opportunity to produce political longevity and not change. Leadership is recognizable. It is obvious to many that we do not have leaders rather opportunists and marketeers.

We rest on our leather sofas watching politicians and the news on our plasma wide screens as we nibble or drink from our fat stock pantry or wine rack. We have our fast vehicles and college tuition bills, four-dollar cups of coffee and vacations in warm or cold places. Life is good and we recognize that the authorities are not. Why? What will happen to us on our present run?
